Not too much, but more than $1800Double_Shot_ABS wrote: 10 Jul 2021, 01:28 Here we go again. This is the guy who was selling the sus $7500 3101 used WITH A BOX.
Unfortunately any beamspring somehow commands a thousand dollar price tag now. I bought mine for around £300 and I thought that was a rip off. Despite what Chyros might say, beamsprings are not worth their weight in gold. They are bulky and near impossible to use comfortably as a main driver. They're not even that rare, not when compared to Industrial SSKs or original 4704 boards. Greed and Overvaluation is slowly killing this hobby.Double_Shot_ABS wrote: 10 Jul 2021, 01:28 Here we go again. This is the guy who was selling the sus $7500 3101 used WITH A BOX.
Just take a closer look at the metal plate underneath the keycaps, the blue rubber sheet has already been removed. Granted, it's in decent condition, but it is very much likely another 3101 with a random box coming from nowhere.
P.S. This guy simply printed the IBM label last time and sticked it on the box when asked to produce an authentication paperwork.
I don't know why you're running on the assumption that people buy them explicitly for use. They're historical objects of particular significance and notoriety (not just stemming from Chyros). In terms of mechanics, they also bear a lot of reverence, relatively speaking. Most owners probably don't use them daily, but rather enjoy being able to look at them or play around with them every now and then. That's all I do with mine; I think it's a beautiful and totally inconvenient delight.wobbled wrote: 11 Jul 2021, 12:29 They are bulky and near impossible to use comfortably as a main driver.

The layouts aren't perfect but are fine (and are a sight better than some layouts some custom boards use). If you aren't dead-set on using an ergonomic split keyboard, there's nothing preventing you from using one as a daily driver if you have room and can adjust your desk/chair height to fit.
I agree the prices these days are absolutely absurd. I sadly can't recommend anyone actually buy one, but that's a separate consideration from whether they work as daily drivers.
Am I reading correctly that the 4978 is 28.125" wide?Jacobalbertus1 wrote: 03 Aug 2021, 05:35 I have been daily driving a beam spring for almost a year now started with a 5251 then moved over to a 4978 for daily usage. it is absolutely doable in every stance even the most rediculous ones can be daily driven
