New "keycap style" deck lighting fixtures

What is the obsession with the BIG ASS enter? For seating, I get it, but for typing ANSI is much more democratic and neighborly--otherwise my old Magitronic FK-5001s would probably be my first choices instead of these modern CherryMX-based boards. :-)
