So i just found a refurbished SIIG minitouch at ebay and the seller says its alps switches but they don't have the word alps written on the switches. So what kind of switches are these, monterey? i've read about these but are they better or worse than the real alps?
Also, i've also read about SIIG mintouch with different kind of colored alps, like blue alps. Are these better?

IIRC, they're simplified type II "XM" ALPS.

Montereys are blue. They will be the cheap XM's as Texas flood said.

Hackers are disreputable people.
Mini SIIG PS/2 Keyboard Clicky ALPS white Sliders Vintage nice Hacker keyboard
Didja used to sell these but then the Geekhackers started to diss him.

NCBound10 is OK though. I've bought keyboards from him before. Nice packaging and you get what he says you'll get, for good or bad.

Actually Type II Normal Profile ALPS.

And I believe they made some complicated ALPS versions in the old days but I'm no MIniTouch collector. You might PM Didja here.

Ok, the seller did say that they're white alps but the switches dont have alps type on them, so i assumed they werent the complicated alps.

Well, I could confirm but NCBound10's camera sucks.

At least he FINALLY learned how to use White balance. For a while his pics were bluer than Two Girls One Cup or Three Firemen One Hatchet.

Don't look that last one up, trust me.

Aren't the monterey minitouchs 1903s made in Taiwan?
Pretty sure I've see 1903s labeled China that weren't or am I imagining it?

I've got an XM SIIG Minitouch, potential candidate to transplant those bright orange Matias switches into once available.

Probably imagining it.

Or you read it at Geekhack. I'd watch that since now Microsoft Windows and KL are the only two remaining Senior Geekhackers left there.

And watch out about that Matias thing - he is pushing his new keyboards at GH harder than this guy:

Not finding anything definitive, seems like it was something didja wrote a while back. Maybe he'll see this and weigh in.
Here is an example of two 1903s, the one made in China being white ALPS and the one from Taiwan being montereys

I had 1903's that were XM's too. The only semi-sure thing is Made in Taiwan on the back and Blue numpad legends on the caps. Edit - we posted at same time.
