Home Row Computing ideas / keyboards with fn layers?

I'm hoping to recreate a home row friendly function key layout similar to HHKB or KBC Poker for my full size keyboard.

Are there any keyboards (or small laptops) with especially great layouts I might want to steal ideas from?

So far I've just got a short list of keyboards to research:

KBC Poker
Happy Hacking Keyboard Pro
Noppoo Choc mini
Mini Guru
Matias Optimizer

Sounds like fun. More keyboards should have some sort of chorded functionality on the home row.

There's a good article on the Matias layout by hyperlinked - http://geekhack.org/showwiki.php?title=Island:9140.

The Matias Optimizer looks like some seriously crazy stuff. I kinda think thats way overkill. Had not seen this before...

I've been using a MiniGuru-like setup the past couple of months (arrow keys/home, end, del), but with curly braces, parenthesis etc (ordinary java/C symbols) accessible with the left hand. I can't imagine using a keyboard without these extra bindings anymore (especially since the stock Swedish layout is heinously stupid).

I've always thought of mapping Caps Lock to Fn and WASD to arrow keys, and perhaps home/end on Q and E. Haven't tried it though.
