Problem: Right-Shift + Filco stabilizer

hi people,

i have an issue with my stabilizer: after i swapped key caps, the stabilizer "grinds" against the inside of the cap when pressing down. it takes alot of pressure to move the key all the way down, and feels like it's getting stuck. not good.

in more detail:
- new Filco TKL Ninja with MX Red
- swapped out the key caps
- tried: Cherry Doubleshots and Cherry PBT
- all keys work fine, except the Right Shift (wide ISO variant).
- the doubleshot Shift works perfect, the PBT one "grinds".

any ideas? when i compare the inside of the key caps, they look identical.

i think i'll use some sand paper or a nail file to carve on the inside of the PBT key cap. i'm guessing it's because it's too "thick" and causing the stabilizer to rub against it.

is this a known issue?

greetings,
david

Are you sure it's not the keycap right side touching the keyboard casing? (I have this issue but with left shift)

Either way, take some photos, so it's easier for us to help you.

Make sure the key is seated properly, with the stabiliser wire arms correctly clipped into the keycap. Make sure the stabiliser guides aren't bent or dislodged.

Remove the stabilised keys and apply a thin film of plastic-safe grease to the stabilisers, guides, and the plastic clips under the keycap. Quite apart from the fact that it may fix your problem (it did for me when I had problems with my backspace) it will improve the feel of the stabilised keys significantly.
