It's not bottom left btw, that's a repro.

Not a clue, top left looks a bit darker but I guess that could be the light.

its the bottom right one, all the new ones have the stripy on the bottom, the original have the grid.

lysol is correct! so the only real way to look is at the bottom of the cap.

It's going on my board when I get a nice case sorted for the phantom.

I also thought so after closely looking at dirge's pic.
But guess what?
I examined mine (all bought from EK) and out of six two of mine do have the grid.

Pics.
I'll check mine when I get back home as well.

Just a sec.

I swear they are all from EK. I initially bought 17, did a mini GB to save shipping costs. But I already sent them out so I can't check them.

It probably just depends on how the caps cure when the 2 shots are put together, it is never quite the same.

I don't see any grid on any of those, Acanthophis.

Well, what's the "grid"? The + where in the middle the mount is for the stem? Then yes, top right and bottom left do have the grid.
If the grid is suppose to be something else, please elaborate.

Those are technically called ribs. I may have mistaken it, but I though you were talking about the pattern the white shot makes against the red at the bottom.
Edit: All yours have sort of wide horizontal bands. The other option is a finer grid of squares sort of, if I am not mistaken.

Around the stem of dirge's "vintage" one you can see the white in a grid pattern, in all of yours and the rest of his the white is just in horizontal lines.

... shit...
I misread lysol's post. My bad!
I thought I read that the top left is the original one, dunno why
Well, ok. Original = grid pattern. Got it

Ribs ain't say nuddin'.

I've just checked my 4, all horizontal.

Now that the vintage "real" one is identified, it's price should go up.

Lower right!
Right?

...I hope not lol. If they do pay more so the bottom is slightly different its a new low...

The real question here is why some have 3 ribs and some have 4 ribs.

Must have a few molds for each character.

But the ones with 3 always look like the fourth has been broken off after it was molded.

Seems so.
At least SP runs some of their key caps parallel, and I'm quite sure Cherry and now GMK does it as well.
When someone orders 1000 Esc keys, they can't just run the rest of the chambers, slots or whatever they call it, empty. So obviously it is cheaper to make the same legend multiple times, to produce them parallel.

Yeah, that is exactly what they do. I remember GMK making some comments about not being able to run as many keys at once before having to change out the tooling and colors for the cmyk set and why it cost more.

It only effects people that bought the keycaps because of it's worth in a monetary sense. If you bought it because you liked it, what has changed?

I boughed it becuase people liked it, and I bought all my stuff because people like it

.
when you buy some stuff for x dollars and you endup with 99% less of what you paid, it is not a nice feeling. That applies to keycaps, watches or anything that you buy. I hate when I buy something and 3 months later, someone eles has a sale of the same item for 50% less.
Yes, I can understand that.
