Non clicky Model M key

Hi there,

I rescued a Model M some time ago, cleaned the baby up inside and out, and it looks almost perfect. There is just one minor defect, the enter key at the numpad doesn't click any more. If you press it it will register the enter press, though I think you need to press a little deeper compared to the other keys. I assume something inside has broken, but I am not sure. Perhaps anybody else experienced this and know what exactly went wrong and perhaps a fix?

Thanks in advance!

Have you tried reseating the keycap? Sometimes you just need to jiggle the spring around a bit to get it clicking again. I had about 3 or 4 keys like that on my SSK and I got them all working again by doing that.

I will try that, and in the meantime I've written a little poem because it's late, the sleeping pills are doing their job and I didn't had anything else to do.
Help a fellow out in distress,
With his M that used to me a mess,

She was cleaned up and wiped well,
So she shone again, oh so swell,

But then when he started to use her,
At that moment started the nightmare,

The enter at the bottom, far right,
Did not function as well, as others might,

She had lost part of her mojo,
For that broken key, now she feels like a hobo,

Dear friends, I ask thou kind,
Pleas rid this nightmare out of my life.

Nice poem, bro; I'm impressed,
Now fix that M and get some rest.

i had something very similar on my model m, take her apart, carefully put her back together again. should fix it.

- make sure the joint is a little looser on that corner if you can.

Tilt the keyboard on its back as you reinsert the key. This will position the spring better.
