Footswitch?

Hello, I am in the market for a footswitch.
Here are my criterias:
1) must be multiplatform
2) must have atleast 3 keys.
(if possible) 3) Must be avaiable for sale in the EU

My idea is to rebind it to things inside of xmodmap. specifically alt, mod4 and ctrl(emacs user)

Any suggestions? I've seen many, but not in the EU. US is fine to, I have a proxy.

I use a standard Tipro keyboard as a footswitch.

I've considered a tipro, but I can't afford one right now.

CeeSa: Can I get the recipe?

a simple and cheap variant (black one). Just use a plank and a wood strip. Let the sides open. So the footpedal lies inclined angle on the floor. Get 6 buttons. Make the holes for them and fix them.
Take a Keyboard PCB or a Joypad for the input. Trace (solder) the 6 Buttons one to one (2 cable for each button) to the Keyboard PCB with the keys you like. Fix the keyboard underneath the plank. That's it in the rough...

Have you checked your local musicians supply-store ?
Those foot-boards look A LOT like something a guitarist or bassist could use for effects-switching ..

Those usually uses a MIDI plug, or normal RCA jacks.

CeeSa: What buttons would you recommend for this project?

You could use button like in staircases for the light (pic 2,3).
(the button has to "swing" back in the non activation position, like keyboard or joystick buttons.

Or some kind of arcade button like pic 1,4.

Both are good for a digital footswitch.
The staircase light button needs much more force, but I am fine with it.
