I have a Kinesis Advantage that worked fine for a couple of years (until it was out of warranty..), but now the small rubber keys on the top trigger randomly, and sometimes repeatedly, without anyone touching the keyboard. Having the computer grind to a halt when it is suddenly instructed to open 30 instances of the e-mail client is not very useful. I know I can send it in for repair, but from where I live the shipping is insanely expensive, so it would be nice if I could fix it myself. Has anyone else experienced something similar, either with this or other keyboards? I can't see any mechanical damage, so I guess there's buildup of charge or something like that (grounding issue?).

First of all I would open the keyboard. It's fairly easy, you'll only need a screw driver. Take some rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) and clean the rubber keys and their contact points.

edit: oops, the rubber keys and the contact plate are not that easily accessible. Depending on the model, it looks like you have destroy some plastic rivets to get there

Yes, they are melted in place. I did however clean the contact points on the cable from the rubber keys to the main curcuit board instead, and it seems to have done the trick. Thanks for pointing in the right direction!
