Does topre feel like MX brown + rubber rings?

One of these days I'll get around to purchasing a HHKB. In the mean time I've watched plenty of videos and listened closely to the sound made when typing and it sounds very similar to my Filco brown using Round 3s + rubber rings. To anyone else who has browns with washers (I think the ones I use are As - they're the harder ones not the spongy stuff), would this be a pretty accurate likeness?

MX browns without mods are nothing like Topre. I doubt the mod you mention would bring them much closer. Ive tried a number of MX switches and none of them are close to Topre in feel, which is not a bad thing... they're just different.
I see comments a lot about how 'X switch with dampeners while you hold your tongue out and balance on one leg feels just like Topre' but I remain skeptical. The closest thing to Topre is probably some cheap rubber dome keyboard...

I've used a keyboard with browns without anything modified to them, and as 002 mentioned... they are nothing like topre.

I have a HHKB at home, and the feel is literally so different compared to MX switches. The way it makes sense in my head is that whenever I type on my mx blues i hear click clack click click click but when i type on my hhkb i just hear THOCK THOCK THOCK THOCK THOCK.

As the previous posters said, browns do under no circumstance feel like Topres. According to my subjective feeling, Topres actuate way faster than my browns, and require more force. Because you need a good amount of force to overcome the bump, you will shortly after bottom out with a very, very satisfying THOCK. If you bottom out with browns, it sounds more like a clack, even with O-Rings installed.
