Picked up my new keyboard today, a steelseries 6Gv2. However I've noticed that none of the windows keyboard layouts match it. The key directly to the left of the 1 has a hash in default position and a tilde on the shift position. There are also 14 keys on the line starting with left shift and the key to the left of rightshift had a backtick in default position, a vertical pipe in Alt Gr position and a horizontal hook character in shift position.

So I downloaded the Keyboard Layout Creator, however none of the layouts have that 14 key row. Any ideas on the layout?

Layout of the 6Gv2 is quite....unique. But its still a 15 key row at all. Just the bigass enter, the ansi left shift and the short right shift makes it quite weird and hard to find replacement keycaps (which are needed unfortunately, as the keycaps wear very quickly).

So how am I supposed to properly configure it? I can't find any layouts on MS Keyboard Layout Creator that have the correct number of keys on each row.

Not quite familiar with ms layout creator, but if currently all keys are registered correctly, imho it should be possible to modify the current layout accordingly (even if not all keys are in the right place in the layout creator).

The problem is, I can't find any existing layouts that match the number of keys on each row so I can't modify the characters on each key. Apparently my keyboard is a variation of the ISO standard, so no idea what I'm supposed to do.

which layout is yr OS using right now? cant you take this one and modify it?

By layout I mean the physical number of keys. I can't find a layout that accommodates for the smaller right shift. There is an extra key on my keyboard

....dont know how to explain....if currently all keys are registered, this means that yr OS layout doesnt care where yr keys on yr keyboard are. So you should be able to simply modify yr actual used OS layout, even if there are two, three keys on a different place than on yr keyboard. For example: you have one more key in the shift row, but one less in the capslock-row. If you modify now this key in mslc (in capslock row) theoretically you could press now yr extra key in shift row and getting exact same result. (not sure about that, but you could try this)

If the key beside 1 has a # and a ~, then it is Steelseries 6GV2 in UK layout.

I think the best way to reason about it is this: All the same keys are still there as on any other UK-ISO keyboard. They have only moved in comparison to the standard layout.
The # key used to be beside a vertical Enter, but because the Enter key is so big, it can't be there - it is now where the ' (backtick) key used to be. The ' key has moved to be beside the right Shift key. The \ key is where it should be in UK-ISO.

I suggest that you load a 105-key ISO layout into your keyboard remapping tool, and load a UK keymap as preset. Then you will have to wrap your head around the fact that keys that have moved around on the keyboard.
