RK-9000 replacement port

I asked this on geekhack, but got no answer. It seems like technically it is not what it once.
The USB port on my RK-9000 died. Looking around a bit I see that it seems to be a common problem.
Anyway I'm going to attempt to replace the port. I just wanted to check the proper procedure. I was going toi order these:
http://www.amazon.com/Right-B-Type-Fema ... +pcb+right
clip two legs off one and solder it in place. Other then the fact that the leads are very close is there any thing tricky or off in what I am describing?
( I plan on pretinning the leads, then heating the leads and letting the solder flow to the pad. I'm ordering ten so I can practice a little first. )
