HHK Professional 2 - diamond keys, any use?

With the DIP switches set to Alt = Alt can the diamond keys be used for anything on the HHK Professional 2?
I noticed that you can program the left one to be FN, but that's probably not much use to me - I'm very programmed myself to use the standard Fn key.
Seems like an awful waste of keys on a compact layout.
Cheers! Mark.

My HHKB is set for Mac mode, so I use the Meta (diamond) key as "Command". However, in Windows, it would function as the "Windows" key. However, via remapping software in your favorite OS, you could change the diamond key to just about anything you would like; indeed, you could distinguish between the right and left diamond keys.

Since control is right under your left pinky, could you not just change them both to alt with the DIP switches?
I am on a Mac myself and love the default layout for this keyboard as you use command as you would ctrl on a Windows computer for a lot of applications. I do agree with rjrich, you could just change them to be something else via software.
