Hello guys,

I would like to ask for advice for a Cherry MX clear based keyboard, with ISO layout. Preferably with PCB mount, so I could easily modify it.

Now that I said it, the real question should be, does it even exist ? I know the g80-3000 which is exactly this, but I'm wondering if there is something better. I am about to buy it, just wondering if there is another choice I could consider before buying it.

Well, which form factor? the availability varies depending on that.

I can see you already have a G80-1000, if you are satisfied with that, you could buy some MX Clears and change them out with the Blacks on it.

Form factor I am interested in is full size or tenkeyless.

Changing the switches is another option. These blacks switches have some electronic component in them each one, how does affect that?

That's just the diode, you can still change the stem of the switches.

... and you have a good chance to try the so-called "Panda Clears" i.e. clear stems with springs from stock mx blacks, which some people (me included) find less tiring than the normal clear springs.

And if you're inclined towards further experiments, see also:

AFAIK, keyboards with MX Clears are somewhat hard to find nowadays, with the exception of the G80-3000.

If you really want something very different, you could go for a Skidata board, although it is only available in German and Nordic layouts, so if you want Spanish, you would have to get keycaps from somewhere. And it's plate-mounted.

I already switched stems/springs with a blue keyboard, and some keys feel weird, with reduced feedback. I tried to clean them, some improved, others did not, so I can not reuse the switches.

Thank you guys very much.

I'm going for the G80-3000. It's the only affordable and not time costly to modify I have right now.

The only problem I have is that I am realizing I really like this buckling spring keyboard I bought two weeks ago, but still I can't stop on trying the MX one. I feel this is a never ending way.

Ordered a g80-3000. I'll comment about it in some weeks.

Thank you again.
