Are these MY switches better? Are they hard too find?

My guess is if they are better, they are just a different degree of suck, but I'll leave it to sixty the Cherry master.

The black ones are better, but still suck ass. Also they are only better in feel, they are actually worse in durability. I had a few of these boards arrive with the stems breaking off in the keycap during shipping. A freaking pain to remove the broken stem from a cap.

 Ok... No reason for me to try to find these then...

I can gladly send you some. I have about 50 piling up without keycaps :D

Did you find any decent Reuter's shells yet?

Cannot go to the Reuters place atm, its too far from the office. Most of them were pretty dirty as far as I remember.

Sixty - what's inside the MY switch anyway?

Unsurprisingly, it's not a million miles different to the mechanism used in the DEC LK201, although the DEC doesn't have a spring in it so you press down directly on the lever, giving the DEC its characteristic lack of any travel. Oddly enough, the DEC was another fine product of "West German" engineering, at least the ones I've seen.

Hey, that is a great idea. We should start selling those!

The only reasons i've saw people buy G81's ...

1. Casings (Sixty has 2 i believe with very interesting color designs)

2. keycaps (either double shots or dye sublimated keys)

Not much praise for the actual Cherry MY switches heh

Yeah, screw the switches. Some of the very worst in the keyboard world. I prefer most rubber domes over them, and that means a lot.

Mike received my Dye subbed G81 keyboard for me.

His review:

1. switches HORRIBLE *barf
2. very durable heavy casing !!
3. dye subbed key caps good... Very good in fact *drool

That about sums up G81 to me.

I recommend that you do your OWN reviews. Why would you let someone tell you what to like or not like??

This is not a good keyboard.

Why would Moogle care if he has the keyboard before reviewing it? He did a complete Filco Versus Ducky comparison without owning either keyboard.

This is great - iMav told me to lay off Moogle at Geekhack so I can pick on him here.

No, Runeazn never flagged me. He's more mature.

I hate squealers. They don't live long in my neighborhood.

There was a guy over at Geekhack that converted MYs to a switch similar in feel to a Cherry MX red.

I like to convert MYs to a pile of smoking trash.

Me too. Actually there is a stack of like 100 of them in one of my storage rooms still. They look so sad too without all their keycaps and even their cables cut off.

Problem is, recycling place he stopped taking my crap. I don't wanna pay 90 bucks or something to recycle them. Will have to see what I can do with them. HEY GUYS CONTEST TIME - 100 FREE KEYBOARDS FOR THE WINNER.

....no?

You can give them away to homeless people. They can use them for bricks.

They pay you for metals and thats about it. The recycling place here is free, but it only accepts junk in "common household amounts". When you start bringing in 100 keyboards once a month, they kinda stop believing.
