I was just wondering if anyone had ever done this. It seems pretty far-fetched, but I know that a lot of far-fetched things happen on DT.
Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone's ever modded an SSK to Model F switches, or even attempted to do so.
Yes, I'm well aware that this is a naive question, but I don't care; I'm new.

The closest anyone has got is Wcass with his epic
XTant project:
Similar desire, but coming at the problem from the opposite direction. XTant is a modified Model F XT, with a new PCB and an SSK-like layout. So you get a heavy duty Model F experience from the case on up.
Modifying an actual SSK isn't feasible. Model Ms are very different beasts to Model F. The springs and flippers are just the start of it: they use completely different guts. You'd wind up building your own Model F all over again, with the goal of fitting it inside an SSK case.

Closest Model F board to an SSK is a 4704 F77, of which I think there are 4 known examples:

Can you link me to this thread? That is absolutely amazing! It looks nothing like an XT! Props to wcass; I'm extremely impressed.
