When I worked at one of Europe's largest Internet Service Providers back in the 1990s there wasn't any fancy product / database to do IP management so we used to allocated networks using text files and vi.

"But wait!", I hear you ask... "What would happen if two people edited a file at the same time?".

Ah, we used our brains.

Specifically, we had a small fluffy red tribble-like stuffed toy which we referred to as the "NOC Brain".

Whoever had possession of the brain was whoever was authorized to edit the files.

Some people solve concurrency problems with CDRTs or using transactional databases.

We used our brain.

I love my 4704s, they're great keyboards (and my daily driver).

I just got a quote from a local metal polishing company who say they'll mirror-finish my 4704s for $75.

Can't say I'm not tempted...

Incidentally, I'm really proud of how that copper plate looks through the frame. When the frame is on, it's subtle but looks amazing.

Orihalcon sells 4704s for around 200 every now and then. I just bought one in December for 210, after that, another sold for 250. Haven't seen one since, but yeah.

Did you see my project?

The metal shop I went to was unhappy with the metal and told me that it was a cheap alloy and that they could never get a consistent finish on it. The back looked great, imperfect as it was, but the front was irregular in a bad way.

That pretty closely describes how it's going for me right now.

I can get a mirror finish on it, but getting the angles sharp is hard. It's more an issue with shaping than polishing.
