Cherry MX clone refers to a switch that is a drop-in replacement for a Cherry MX switch, i.e. it shares the same PCB, plate and keycap dimensions as a real Cherry MX switch.

Unlike with Alps clones—which were widely used in keyboards sold to Europe and North America—Cherry MX clones are rarely see in the West, yet there are just as many different varieties. At present, most types remain unidentified.
