Linux, also known as GNU/Linux, is a family of POSIX-compliant computer operating systems that share the Linux kernel originally created by Finnish developer Linus Torvalds.
The pronunciation of "Linux" is similar to "LEE-nooks", corresponding with the Finno-Swedish pronunciation of "Linus". The standard English approximation is "LIN-ux".
