The Mitsumi membrane lock switch is a latching (push to make, push to break) switch. When the key is depressed, it locks into place and remains down until pressed a second time. The switch has mechanical parts by necessity, but it provides a conductive rubber foot that connects membrane traces.
The switch has a follower track the same as an Alps lock switch. Unlike the Alps switch, which has a sturdy, pivoting arm, the Mitsumi switch simply has a piece of bent copper wire that hooks inside a copper leaf spring. The switch has the same kind of "baling wire" construction as SMK and Monterey switches.
The Mitsumi membrane lock switch is the latching lock switch in the Mitsumi-made Apple Keyboard II variant.
