Well it's approaching 3AM here and I'm at the end of my Conversion Immersion. I've done a whole lot of futzing & soldering and now I'm left with just one board that doesn't want to play nice. Ultimately my goal is to convert this keyboard but I've unfortunately run out of steam for the time being.

I plan to make this a thread about the signalling and hopeful conversion of this keyboard but for now please enjoy this slideshow.

Here it is: the Qume QVT something something something keyboard. Forty seven ounces of American craftsmanship (made in Taiwan).

And it's got....

Cherry MX Black! A staple of terminal-era keyboards everywhere. I'm not sure that there's anything particularly interesting about these switches but here's a cool macro shot I took.

Look at that subtle coloring. The tasteful thickness. Oh my God, it even has a watermark.

Now let's take a look at the inside...

Pretty normal, with a few exceptions.

Well this seems slightly unorthodox.

Oh this too...

Maybe they were last minute revisions to the design? Anyways, here are the rest of the photos.

Now that you've seen my foot, here's the keyboard's foot.
Image

Well that's pretty much it. Oh except for this one.

That light means it's locked. I've never seen that light off

This looks like a wyse off brand board. Have you tried that converter?

I'm not sure that this is a WYSE - it certainly looks like a WYSE, but there are a few differences which makes me think it's really a WYSE clone - the rounded corners, the LED table, the feet, and the PCB all have subtle differences.

The cord is cut but it looks like a 4p4c cable that you'd see on a Wyse. I'll give that converter a shot when I have a chance. A bit skeptical that it would work due to that "wait" light being lit but that would be a fantastically simple solution if it does.

No luck with the Wyseverter unfortunately. It might work but the "Wait" light remains on so I'll need to get past that first. It might be an impossible task without having a matching terminal to observe what the handshake actually looks like. I'm not sure how to proceed with this except to bypass the controller all together.
