anyways comic sans? who gives a frick. what a waste of your mental energy! here is an experiment:
the next time you think about comic sans, as soon as you are aware that you're thinking about comic sans, try to think about something you NEVER think about. you can pick something beforehand that you want to think about or you can just try to come up with something on the spot whenever you realize you're thinking about comic sans. anyways then spend 5 minutes or 30 seconds or whatever you have time for thinking really hard about that thing. then drink a glass of water.
if you stop thinking about comic sans, then hey! your life is probably different and that's cool.
if you don't, then at least you turn a toxic influence ( YO, DONT LET A FONT BE A TOXIC INFLUENCE IN YOUR LIFE IS THE POINT OF THIS BUT I DIGRESS) into a mental experiment. and experiments are fun. and even if you frickin SUCK at experimenting then at least you get a glass of water out of it and let's face it, you're probably dehydrated, you bum.

look, i hate using windows. i just don't like it. i am very much acclimated to it and i have more experience with the internals of windows administration than your average "power user" or Gaming Machine Put-It-Togetherer, but i don't consider myself a power user because i don't use windows in a non-enterprise setting if i can help it. maybe closer to jr sysadmin level or some nonsense basically i work with various workstation and server editions of it and everything is just a total pain in the butt. also power user... what a stupid phrase. goddang this crap.

that said, every time i need to solve a problem i am thoroughly impressed with the possibilities that are visually available whenever i have to edit GPOs and user accounts and crap. there is a ton of shit in the Windows Server GUI.

THAT said, that's still not enough to get me to nurture an active interest in AD management. holy crap nope. i went to a junior/community/tech college for a Nice Piece of Paper That Says I Can Tell Computers What To Do and i kid you not i slept through at least 60% of my AD admin course. got straight As through everything else and managed to slip by with a barely-passing grade in that one. my brain either shuts off or starts thinking of unixy ways to approach the problem.

tl;dr: active directory is like an SEP field. i just can't pay it the right kind of attention.

Right now i have two goals, but i forgot them because i do a lot of taxes .
Just kidding my goals are:
-To make a conscious effort to say fewer things out loud
-To eat more, which is funny because, being an accountant, and with all the taxes i do... well, most accountants of my caliber eat a lot more food than i do. taxes the appetite.


here's a question for imperialist grammarians:
how valid would it be to have written the above sentence like so:

in the purely written english language, is that extra comma necessary or is that a product of voicing (heck, i don't know the words but like, you know, writing like i usually do around here)?

Commas, generally speaking, are a pretty good, or, for some of us, more to the point essential, tools for, you know, getting across the, I suppose the word I'm looking for is cadence, yes, the rhythm of speech when laying it down in words. Coming from a hellhole of legalese, as you do, I can only cringe at the crimes committed in their name during your day job. But commas – and punctuation in general – are more than just crutches for the accursed crook and legal swindler, but are as much of a delight as the words we speak, themselves. Use the bastards for good or bad, it's up to you. Style is style.

Exercise for the reader: strip out all the punctuation from the paragraph above and try reading it again. Not, gonna, happen.

I like your style; I'm a fan of... hm, shall we say, rhythmic variations in written English (of course, that probably comes from the way that I speak English as well). i cut a mean semicolon. i think the comma after essential sort of falls in this nasty zone.

here's another question. does there exist a grammatically-correct method of posing a list of options in the form of a questions - intra-sentence multiple question marking? i'm thinking sort of along the lines of a semicolon-delineated list of lists. i have a sneaking suspicion that this is either not possible or that there is a hyphen/dash of some pedigree involved.

now i've got half a mind to compress your post by rearranging the sentences to reduce comma usage while keeping the same information. you know, sort of like a css compressor or something.

They are uncompressed, on purpose. I usually try to keep things linear, or it's all too easy to start sounding like a bad poet.

As for lists – do you mean this?; this?, this?—or: this? – I'd tease them out of the sentence so they can work separately instead. But that's just my method. For more of a lecture, I'd add Strunk & White to your reading list:

i gave up viagra links after getting kicked out of high school on the last day for using a teacher's email account to send everyone in the school a fake viagra ad. said teacher was witness to me doing that from others' accounts but the medicine was more bitter to her, not least because the next day she was being filmed for some teacher board certification. apparently people were asking her for viagra all day... on camera. whoops
