Thats an ABC computer and a ABC keyboard. Specifically ABC 800 and ABC 77. Not that uncommon in Sweden. But I have never owned one my self. See if I can afford these two. I'm quite interested in those and have a look at them.

The good news is that now we know that the 4704 have the third type of flipper. (reference here)
The bad one is that if this keyboard sells at this price, it means that this planet is too crazy for me. I will need to go to a different one !

Personally this F77 of mine and my F107 keyboards have had two types of flippers - one with kind of a 1 mm "bump" on the side of the flipper that touches the PCB, and one without the bump that often appears to be of a shinier type plastic. A majority of the older Model F's have those with the bump. Though most of my PC AT's have flippers without the bump.

Not sure if the type of flipper makes much of a difference in the sound. I think the weight of the materials making up the inner assembly, the condition of the foam, and the date of manufacture (earlier=pingier for the most part IME) have more to do with the sound of the keyboard.

seebart - I think you're right. Most of the guys buying from my IBM collection are DT/GH members who seem to do a good deal of buying on eBay based on what I know, so they know and appreciate the "real" prices of what things sell for in a free market :) And yes dzhoou, I always give DH and DT members discounts for outside of eBay transactions. Though 50% like you're saying there is a bit much!

yes posibly you are right Ellipse! Much more interesting to me is that you are providing IBM keyboard insights, which you yourself recently said yours were too limited to contribute here! Not at all the case!

@Ellipse: Sorry you got badly flamed recently on GH. I chalk it up several things, including a lack of maturity, jealousy, and a naive sense of altruism that stems in part from a fundamental lack of understanding or appreciation for something approaching a free-market economy. In addition, it seems that some people's sense of ethics fails to take into account a person's right to do as he wishes with his property, as long as it does not harm or unduly hinder others. Whereas you can expect some good-natured tongue-in-cheek comments on your high-profile sales, you don't deserve the bitter ad hominem attacks that some have launched against you.

Good luck with your sales, and thanks for contributing to the preservation of some of the world's greatest vintage keyboards. We can surely expect that anyone who could pay such premiums would keep these prizes from falling into the hands of the recyclers who would crush them into rubble for the landfill.

Ironically you're countering a perceived ad hominem attack, with an ad hominem attack. Technically, this would make you susceptible to your own comments. :evilgeek:

And which specific comments led you to that conclusion, mind if I ask?

So far I'm only seeing satirical comments on his sales pitch and pricing from a lot of DT members. That leads us to another question. Why only our friend Ellipse? Why not some other seller like elec or orihalcon? Because they are either sans the pitch, or the high pricing, or both.

If you think a free-market economy cannot contain a little satire for a high-profile, shrewd seller, then you're the one who's having issues.

that works both ways dzhoou. The seller should also be able to take criticism of his sales. MInd you a few of those (mine) "satirical comments" were not meant satirical at all! I don`t follow GH so I cannot comment on that.

if you lived close it would be worth it for the higher quality old caps and spare flippers and stuff just take the assembly out and junk em

not worth shipping tho

i guess you could remove the CRT and floppy drives and mod in a modern widescreen LCD for a retro look all in one :) even put a mac mini in there for a iMac like experience.

gah dont tempt yourself :P
