i did see that, apparently the SoC is not super good under linux ( not that much support) and you have to buy a shield if you want HDMI or VGA but looks nice, could be worth fitting it inside a keybord

I considered getting one. It'd be cool going to a client and saying "our software is so good that it is currently running on THIS server".

The 20$ hipping cost to Europe kinda kills it, though. I could buy a Raspberry Pi from a local store for a bit more (and I would get it today, not in 6 months).

What kills it for me is $20 shipping everywhere - so effectively it's not $9 but $29. Otherwise it does look good.

Well that kind of kills the whole 9$ idea right? At that price I might be able to get a raspberry PI at your local electronics store.

what i want is a board for the raspberry pi compute module that just has network and RS232 so i can use them to control stuff like a UPS wifi APs and so on, a backplane type thing would be cool where it already has the 232 and 10/100 and you just slot in a new compute module as needed.

I'm really tempted to buy the CHIP-Pocket as a replacment for a calculator. Then again, it would cost $60 \approx 60€. And on Aliexpress I'd get a full-featured

for a mere 93€. Also the battery life seems to outrule to use it as a calculator. And I don't even want to know to the lcd is attaced. Proably via ISP that gives 10 frames per second and consumes 50% cpu just for communicating with the screen.
