Very nice looking clean board. I think I am the glorious first viewer of the video (Youtube viewer count was 1). Anyway, sellers should learn how to ship keyboads safely. It is a common practice to fix broken keycaps/switches/case. Epoxy is our friend...

Yes, they were made cheap considering the age they were made. Blue alps was a common clicky switch in 1986/87 when IBM 1390120/131s were made. There was no white Alps switch came out. Probably, Alps clone switches were not developed either? and Cherry switches were as much expensive as the Alps.

Clone or not, it's still a very cool keyboard. I'd love to have one in my collection just the same. Thanks for sharing the pics. Since the PCB board is flat, I am assuming the key stems are longer at the top/bottom because of the curve in the keyboard case? yeah, that's how it is. the stems on the ...

I found a keyboard a while back that arrived today. I couldn't find any information on it, and it only suspeciously meantioned 'mechanical' in the title, but the actual keyboard in the picture looked very interesting. Well, it arrived today, and the 30 bucks I paid for it was a steal. The keyboard ...

It was used in the membrane version of Sejin M8700. There maybe some other keyboards too.
Another example is on eBay. Basically it's the same M8700 with a different case.

If somebody makes a PCB for this, then it would be able to make a semi-model F.
Or if you want a bigger project, then you can try to build build an ergodox model F using two keyboards. :)
By the way, feet are different from those of regular model M as I remember.

I think it is natural to have a louder click sound upon upstroke. When you downstroke, your finger absorbs the shock of clicking bump of the leaf spring, so the switch gives somewhat dull sound. For upstroke, your finger is already off of the keycap, so the clicking sound is not disturbed. The diffe...

I thought that pale green overlay on omnikeys was a result of yellowing. But it looks like it's not (?). Actually several other omnikeys including those with blue alps also have that green overlay. They might be produced separately, but I don't think there was a production change from grey to green.

Permabond still is an epoxy-based glue, probably with some additives I guess. If PBT is that hard to dissolve, then this glue will also not be able to make a strong chemical bonding unless the manufacturer has an alien technology.

I also wonder if there is a good and cheap bonding solution for broken PBT caps. Previously, I purchased a Permabond ES5741 as it is designed for use with PBT according to its manufacturer. It seems to work, but I haven't tested its bonding strength though. A problem is that it requires a bit higher...
