Flying blind... first time ever...

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7176/6953763553_b7d4410d99_b.jpg This is a strange but rather necessary training excercise for my brain; not having the luxury of looking down when typing :). I find I am 90% there already, I just got lazy over the years. Good old AT102W, a good KB to train on, if not ...

So, are you interested in my ideas? It seems not, if you're laughing them off. I promise not to sell you one at cost price, once they're released... okay. :)

Old, but good. It's often the ideas that are considered "old" and thus dismissed, that end up being the best ones of all. Great minds think likewise, it seems.

You might want to read up on hall effect switches^^. This is spring-related, and nothing to do with the switches. You're talking about a totally different aspect of the key; the switch, whereas I am tallking about the force required to actuate the switch, being variable by means of magnetic repulsi...

If you want to see a really crappy site, who, by self-admission, haven't updated their code since the 1990s, try: http://forums.thinkbroadband.com/threads.php Not sure what is supposed to be "crappy" there. Simple, functional design, and It seems to work perfectly. They still use table-based layout...

I had an idea for a new keyswitch mechanism...

Hi there. The inventor that I am, I just had a thought for a mechanical keyboard mechanism. So here it is: In the usual mechanical (Cherry MX, alps etc) switches, you have a spring. Well, instead of a spring, why not use two tiny magnets, with their like poles facing, so that they push away from one...

Dell AT102W (Black ALPS): How much is it worth in £?

Good condition (was stripped down and cleaned) but space bar slightly shiny. Any idea of the value in pounds sterling?

Thanks.

They sell keyboards, not sports cars. It doesn't even matter, because word of mouth means that they'll continue selling them, and the website is functional... at least it's not taking 30s to load, pulling in 100 different ad banners from external sites and loading pointless javascript code. It looks...

What's the metal wire called inside a space bar?

Would someone tell me the proper term for the long piece of wire which sits under the space bar keycap, and clips into it and the keyboard? I'm a n00b, haha!

Thanks :)

So you want 1 mm before actuation/click and then linear to the bottom? Why? Scissor switches and Cherry switches both have about 2 mm of travel to actuation, only that with Cherry switches you have travel after actuation while with scissor switches you have none. Or is it mostly the click sound tha...

Is it possible to make SHALLOW tactile+scissor switched KBs?

Maybe my title wasn't the best, but I'm wondering if such a thing exists as this: a keyboard which uses shallow scissor-based keys, as on the current Apple keyboards, but with clicky, tactile metallic switch keys such as the Cherry MX Blues , with a shallow concave surface (pardon my lack of knowled...
