Re: [WTB] Gray Badge M122
Makes sense! Thanks, Mu! I use essentially all combinations of ctrl, alt, shift and arrow keys frequently, so sounds like it could get fairly annoying fast.

Re: [WTB] Gray Badge M122
Since we're already discussing the merits of the M122 (or lack thereof):
I'm one of the poor souls who do not own any 110+ key buckling spring keyboards (I know, I know, it sounds dreadful, but it's all I've ever known!).
What are the main drawbacks of the M122? The matrix?

Re: Key switch -> WPM: What's your fastest switch?
For me I think it comes more down to keycap profile than the switch itself, though the difference is marginal. Linear SI and model F is definitely among some of the faster ones though. Good point re: key profile. I also find that there is a big difference between ... Let's call it transient WPM and...

But who the hell just makes a typo in a big-brand keyboard's Model No. and then releases it?

I was looking for one recently, but admittedly I may have half-assed it (and I'm not really aware of where you buy non-vintage keyboardsLambdaCore wrote: ↑30 Jun 2022, 03:49I mean that's still a fairly recent keyboard, is it not? I'd be surprised if it wasn't! I'll have to check the stock though.

If you want a beamspring keyboard with a plastic case, there's always the Keystone keyboard with Silo beamsprings Or at least, the idea of it is always there. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lekashman/keystone-the-future-of-mechanical-keyboards/posts/3446400 Actually, I have an IBM 5251 which ...

I prettymuch just signed up here to put my opinion. Please just make this board in Model M and SSK (both with lock lights) layout. Agreed, that would be great! The only thing I really dislike about the Mini M is the cheap plastic casing (I don't even mind the profile, but I certainly would have pai...

Okay, So this is one of my favourite boards in my collection. Re: Keyboard suggestion for Model F, but quieter.
I always floss-mod Model Fs, I would describe it as mostly cutting out the higher overtones which are the annoying ones. There is much less change and/or improvement with Model Ms, in my opinion, and I don't usually do it. Yeah, they're not as high pitched in the first place. Still, it's enough tha...

Never understood the obsession with switches that become shitty as you use them ... I guess that's the price you pay for the click. As a based linear Cherry enjoyer, I am spoiled with awesome switches that become even better with age. Now cope... Not really, as a general rule. IBM buckling spring s...

Re: Keyboard suggestion for Model F, but quieter.
Got a before and after video, or even a half done board? From what I gather, floss mod is a fair bit of work to dampen quite a lot of the sound. Not most of it, though. And there is a bit of deadening on the click feel. On a nice light F, it makes it heavier and less responsive, like M is, or such ...

I've used a Model F XT as a daily driver for long periods of time - it's the keyboard I use the most at home, to be honest. I'm really productive with it, as well! And this is even though I have an Ellipse F77 repro that I could use. I find that the layout is perfectly fine, although I've also made ...

Re: are vintage membrane keyboards worth it?
If we're talking membrane rubber dome boards, I'd call it a decisive maybe . The biggest problem, I find, is that rubber domes often do not age well . Very often they become stiff and unpleasant over time. Of course, this hardening of the rubber can sometimes increase tactility, which may be a good ...

What's going on with this keyboard? Seller claims that it is not a Model F, but it certainly looks like one. Normally I'd ignore such a claim, but I'm a bit intrigued since I can't find anything on the parts number, and the inside of the shell looks a bit unusual (in other words: the clickbait total...
