Re: Great/Interesting Finds
I was hoping that FLS board didn't get as much attention as it did, it's going to go for quite a lot it seems.

Re: Epson PC286KB2 - Mitsumi KKQ Switch?
The tactility is definiteoy rubber dome-like, SUPER rounded. My board is nearly spotless inside and lubed, so hopefully with good care the switch feel will last for years.

Re: Epson PC286KB2 - Mitsumi KKQ Switch?
How did you like yours? I know the K-Q switches get some flak around here, but so far I find mine to be pretty nice! Although I am still pretty inexperienced, and have only really tried a Model F, FLS 2nd gen, and a couple of modern switches.

Epson PC286KB2 - Mitsumi KKQ Switch?
Imgur: http://imgur.com/a/r12hDyr I think I hit something quite strange with this one! Found on ebay nearby, and then sent to a fellow here on DT for cleaning, retrobrite, conversion, and lubing. The keycaps are pad-printed, but held up well to the retrobrite process. The before and after pics can b...

Re: Great/Interesting Finds
Interesting, thanks! Are those switches held in decent regard? I have a feeling based on my limited knowledge that they are not as well-regarded as something like a BTC dome with slider, and are maybe on a similar page at Keytronic FNF.

I've had my eye on this, anyone know if this DEC is also a dome? Sweet keycaps though!

Epson QX-10 Vintage System with Q703 board (FLS 2nd gen)
Not sure if this happens often or not here, but I am selling my Epson QX-10 system, previous owner confirmed it to work and I can share those extra photos with you. One of the keyboard feet broke off in shipping, as you can see in the pictures. Keyboard seems like it could use a retrobright and lubi...

Beautiful boards! I would love to go for the Triumph Adler, although being accustomed to ANSI and not having the change it looks like I'll have to pass, for now. GLWS!

Re: Great/Interesting Finds
I purchased an FLS 2nd gen. board recently, and can see where the smoothness used to be, but they were much more used than I thought based on the eBay pictures. Some scratchiness present for sure on the alpha keys, but the lesser used ones were pretty smooth.

Re: Looking for help converting a FLS Epson
I can take the time to learn the programming at my leisure while the board is functional on my PC, but I just can't justify the purchase of a soldering kit when I would maybe use it this one time. God forbid I also ruin the PCB from noobish mistakes!

Re: Looking for help converting a FLS Epson
Oh thats cool! But now my issue is finding someone to path the traces, cut them, solder in all those diodes, wire it all up to a new controller and program it. Then later maybe I can figure out how to make it work with the old system as well. Not that I know any programming but at least it doesn't i...

Re: Looking for help converting a FLS Epson
Ah, so it is option #3 then. Unfortunate too, as the whole system is in great condition with all of the software and accessories, and without its keyboard the system is useless, unless a potential buyer can get another QX-10 keyboard. So I better try the keyboard and see if it feels as nice as they ...

Re: Looking for help converting a FLS Epson
Actually, looking back through old posts it seems that people have already tried to reverse-engineer the protocol, but it didn't work well (1KRO). So snacksthecat and others were forced to revert to their approach of cutting the PCB traces and soldering diodes and then handwiring a matrix (I think?)...

Re: Looking for help converting a FLS Epson
Okay, so would going with this approach make the keyboard as functional as a modern one on a Windows machine? It would probably be my only board for a while, and handle work and gaming activities. Also, this would preserve NKRO and just be something plugged into a modern computer via USB, like a Soa...

Re: Looking for help converting a FLS Epson
Thanks! Although I'm way out of my depth here, if you'd be willing to take this on as a project I would really appreciate it. I have no way of doing anything with the board, not even desoldering.

Re: Looking for help converting a FLS Epson
Yeah, I would love to be able to use it with the old system still, especially since I probably won't be able to sell the rest of the system. Being that they would need anothwr QX-10 keyboard. If anyone thinks they could do this and want to give it a shot I'm all ears.

Hi snacks, I just purchased a whole QX-10 system and I'm looking to find help with conversion. I wanted to ask you, with this method were you able to use the keyboard both over USB and with the QX-10? Or is it no longer able to work with that system? Some people on discord suggested that I could fin...

Looking for help converting a FLS Epson
