High-profile caps definitely fit what you would expect from a beamspring.Pete wrote: ↑11 Aug 2021, 01:29I’m really hoping for high-profile keycaps, something like this: https://matt3o.com/about-mt3-profile-and-devtty-set/

Even though a ballpark estimate of when I might expect my keyboard to ship would be nice, I don't blame Ellipse for not saying. I've seen the shall we say vocal frustration when side projects like this inevitably encounter delays.

For those complaining about the case being "generic": what would you like to see instead? Genuinely curious.

Re: Beam Spring 104+SSK Reproduction Project! First Batch In Stock, Shipping early next year after New Model F Project
As someone using a beamspring (Displaywriter) as a daily driver, this is pretty much an auto-buy for me, and I'm stoked. I'm really curious how the sound profile/feel will differ from my vintage keyboard. Prediction: I will prefer certain aspects of my current board (primarily sound; my solenoid is ...

Re: What happens when your "White Whale" disappoints?
That's really strange. I used to own both a Realforce and an HHKB and felt no difference due to the plate. Perhaps it had something to do with my setup. I still regret trading that HiPro, even if I got a sweet SSK out of the deal.

Re: Has anyone ever made/designed a replacement Displaywriter case?
Another user has fitted an XT case onto a 5251, so (somewhat) similar concept https://deskthority.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=17339&start= Given how tall beamsprings are, adding a wide area below the spacebar as a palm rest might be a good idea. I did see that. My goal is something entirely non-destruc...

Has anyone ever made/designed a replacement Displaywriter case?
I've had the idea of making a more compact case for my Displaywriter. The biggest savings, of course, is getting a replacement bottom plate that doesn't have the long, curved flanges that originally housed the controller. Has anyone done something like this before? Anything I should be aware of? (Th...

Re: IBM 3101 Beamspring keyboard with original box#2
Meh, I don't really see what's so difficult about comfortably using them for daily use. The layouts aren't perfect but are fine (and are a sight better than some layouts some custom boards use). If you aren't dead-set on using an ergonomic split keyboard, there's nothing preventing you from using on...

xwhatsit Displaywriter controller compatible with QMK?
First-time post here; sorry if this is the wrong place. I have one of the original xwhatsit Displaywriter controllers. I saw recently that the New Model F controllers, which support the xwhatsit firmware, also support QMK. Does my controller also support QMK, or is that only for the new, Model F-spe...
