WP_20131218_001.jpg Here's my DEC VT52. Ignore the filth underneath, I need to clean it. The clamp is solid on the left, 4 prong on the right. The cross beam is a straight bar with a raised portion in the middle. Not sure if this is noteworthy or not, but on some of the raised bars there are little...

The Stackpole mount in those caps is actually an adapter? WP_20131030_007.jpg Some explanation so you're not confused. Most caps have only one stem obviously, which looks like the middle part of that key, with the black pole in stuck into it. I'm not sure what's up with this key that has 3 mounts, ...

Anyone interested in my DEC VT52? There's an issue with the CRT, the vertical has gone out. Might be fixable/adjustable (there's a hefty repair manual). Has sweet doubleshot stackpole keys... will the same be available in grey/white and red? and stepped caps lock? Ah, yes, the stepped CAPS LOCK. But it is already available in grey/white, just not in red ... I only see it in Grey, as a part of HONEY/MOD175. Is it available as a standalone? And any chance of LED windows? Still tryi...

Sounds like what they used to do for some old terminals where the desk was all part of it and integrated keyboard. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3637/3422398746_c8685d33c4_z.jpg This is pretty close to what I'd like. I bet I could do something similar with a PCB mounted keyboard, just cut holes for...

Could you explain what, ergonomically, makes the difference to a keyboard plus wristpad? I don't really understand the advantage that makes it worthwile to saw a hole in your desk. I'm not an ergonomic expert, but for some reason I feel it would be more comfortable to have closer to 90 degree angle...

If I Could Build It: In-Desk Keyboard, Left Side TK
keyboard.png So this is my idea, if I could build it. Cut a hole in desktop to fit a custom keyboard plate or case that fits into the hole. This hole allows the keyboard to sit "in" the desk with a near zero angle. With this design your wrists can lay naturally on the table and not need to be propp...

I've thought about a teensy, but before I go that route, I have another controller board for a similar model, but it's USB. When I tried this before it didn't work, but I'm not sure the ribbon cables connect to the right places. This one: Ribbon #1 1-7 = 0 8-11 = 0.01 12-13 = 0 14-15 = 0.01 16 = 0.0...

UPDATE: I borrowed a multimeter and opened my baby up! Picture Gallery: http://sdrv.ms/10cWCPf So far I haven't figured out what's broken. I measured the connections on the ribbon cables, and tried pressing buttons to see if they change, and they do! Which makes me think the keyboard layer pcb isn't...

I'll open it up tomorrow, but from what I remember it goes like this: trackpad -> ribbon to keyboard pcb layer -> controller pcb. There's only one controller pcb, but I didn't pay enough attention to the trackpad to know if it has some of it's own logic on the keyboard pcb layer or if it's just a pa...

Help: Static Electricity shorted my keyboard!
I have a Cherry G80-8113LRAUS. I went to sit down and touched my keyboard and got shocked from static electricity. My keyboard stopped working immediately. I unplugged and replugged and all three indicator lights continually flash, but the keyboard doesn't work. The trackpad, however, does work. I p...

So, a little more info (and another cry for help). Cherry G80 PS/2 -> USB swap out (help please)
Hey guys, I recently purchased a G80-8113LRAUS with PS/2, and a member here sent me a USB controller to swap out. I found out that it's going to require a little soldering. The difficulty is the connectors are a little different, and I'm wondering if someone here can help me sort this out. Here are ...

Got my first mechanical keyboard... [Cherry G80-8113LRAUS-2]
Image Gallery Model: Cherry G80-8113LRAUS-2 Got it on Ebay for about $42 shipped. Haven't gotten a chance to try it out yet, didn't realize my stupid PC doesn't have PS/2. I'll grab an adapter later and try it out. Well, it's a little bit of a fixer upper... The key above escape is missing and the ...

Oh great Oracle, I am looking for an extremely cheap mechanical keyboard, for under $50/USD. I am ok with a used keyboard, don't mind beige, but need it to be quiet (MX Browns?). I may be interested in modding it down the road. I have not used a mechanical keyboard before except for buckling springs...
