Mmm… I Iike the look of your candy store. How did you know that theme was coming? I was actually was aiming for " TRUVS - The Retro Unicorn Vomit Sweets" Nice thing about the PA parts is that they can be dyed pretty nicely, albeit the outcome is not always what the color looks on other pieces...

Re: AW: Making keycaps out of polyamide

But first the boring stuff:
I think I'll go with the central square ones first.a After trowalization (barrel finishing) the surface is just smooth enough to feel very nice, will be interesting how the minimal height looks in a board.

Beautiful result with the carbon-fiber look, well done sir! And I'm sure you'll drop that mousebutton assembly in the next round for an even better appearance :D Spherical! That's a fine idea. The radius of the sphere would have a huge influence on typing, though. Needs a good bit of testing to find...

Really nice, especially the metal makes them true eye-catchers!
What tools did you use for the voronoi shapes? I tried with blender and some plugins a while ago, but did not get such nice shapes without lots of fine-tuning.

Since I just recently looked it up: the Cherry spec on cutout is 14+/-0.05 mm and 0.3mm max corner radius - I usually go as low as 13.85mm on my plastic plates since it is easier to take a little off later on :-)

I received the Reaper yesterday and will try it during the next weeks, but so far it is quite impressive in look and feel, and I hope to make good use of the many extra configurable buttons for non-gaming apps, too.

Someday someone should make a lego-style keyboard, where everyone can make his dream layout by moving and relocking different pcb-plate-keys parts at different positions relative to one another. Not quite the same, but if you're aiming for some semi-automatic cut-out plate creation, I found OpenSCA...

What software magick are you using to bring that mouse movement / key remapping sync about? Some of the deeper layers of Hasu's box of tricks? Not using Hasu's code, but I assume it could be implemented there, too: Essentially, I'm temporarily activating the layer with the mouse button mappings whe...

Definitely a design I like :D http://deskthority.net/resources/top/6832 I got my trackpoints from old laptop keyboards, works really well, the only issue is the additional height needed for the pcb if you intend to place them like you did right in the center, and the need for an extension since it w...

If you haven't tried OpenSCAD yet, this part would be a prime example for some experiments with it: I whipped up some crude code which should be fairly configurable, and find it a lot easier to prototypes that way than with blender, too, as much as I like it for more complicated and free-form design...

Hey suka, that new TrackPoint does not look like it comes from a ThinkPad. Where did you get it? It is indeed from an old IBM laptop. It seems impossible to source them or any other trackpoint module separately. Haven't tested the Easypoint module yet which looked promising on paper, but someone on...
