This solder sucker is the best manual one I have used hands down. I find it makes my life a lot easier (was also on the input club list). Also use a lot of flux if the joint is being stubborn, this is a god-send with working with lead-free solder. Also use a lot on the wick when you're using one (f...

Sorry everyone for the radio silence, been a bit busy over here, finally back in Scotland though. Considering there is no answer from the creator of the tour, do you think I could get in line and try the ergodox for 2 weeks? In EU-RO Hey, that's fine with me, I'll add you to the list. Also thanks fo...

Do you still have a spot free in Germany? Yeah sure, I will add you to the list ;) ErgoDox is one of the layouts I would *love* to try! Should I put you on the list too? At this rate you would have to send it back to the UK, would that be alright with you? Are you the next in line? :D pansku should...

Such a shame about this GB, I was really looking forward to it but $100+$22 shipping+20% VAT+handling fee = £120 just for a PCB and plate. Not sure if a split space is worth that much for me :( I think I'll just wait for China to make a cheaper version. I joined this (production phase): https://geek...

Do you have homebrew on your mac? If you do then you can install it through that using: brew install dfu-programmer I think that's probably the easiest way and it's a great tool to use if you haven't already installed it: https://brew.sh/ The other option needs you to have gcc and make installed, an...

What a cute little keyboard, wish there was an updated one with mechanical keyswitches.snuci wrote: ↑For example, here is a "futuristic keyboard" from the 1997.
It's a great place for a pointing device as it removes the reach over needed when you have a trackball/mouse beside your keyboard.

What keyboard do you have? Can you post pictures of what happened? If you have a plate, you're going to find replacing the stabiliser to be pretty tricky. Mechboards sell 6.25 PCB stabilisers , I assume they are genuine Cherry parts. If you don't want this problem to happen again, you might want to ...

The US (ANSI) versions of X240/X250/X260 are alright and don't have key irregularities. Biggest gripe is Insert/End combined in a single button. Otherwise, as a laptop keyboard the T and X series Thinkpads rule. E series are less awesome. I use a X230, though, which has full width keyboard. Short o...

MKBHD does also a lot of photography, monitors, audio and other gadgets. He inspired me to try the Audio Technica M50s and I am very glad I've bought them. Maybe I judged him a bit too quickly, haven't watched his videos in years (I think at this point). Will have to give him another go then! Quest...

Ah yeah I had a look at the original Massdrop Ergodox and that all makes sense now. Yeah the nice thing about the tenting on the Ergodox EZ is that it's so easy to adjust and adds very little bulk to the keyboard. I've seen a couple of people use Kinesis stands for their Ergodox , but they seem to b...

Yeah the original kit was a good price and came with the case. The pre-assembled kit that I linked is unfortunately more at 580CNY = 75EUR.
Just be warned about the counterfeit teensy, you might have to: replace it with a genuine one, use the utility I linked, or reflash the bootloader with a USBISP.

I assume it's for speed more than anything, being able to touch type numbers a little quicker without leaving the home-row. TBH, I just assumed that if you type numbers often enough that you worry about touch typing them quickly then the space concerns of the number pad are nullified. If you're just...
