I just got an email saying it's not too late to join the early bird production run. Is this only for the compact case design or can I order other items as well? Sorry, I've been out of the loop for a while. I assumed I completely missed the first run, so I haven't been checking the forum lately.

If I get a split backspace, how hard would it be to convert to a standard 2U backspace? Is it just swapping out a spring/flipper for a stabilizer and reconfiguring the controller? Oh, and changing the keycaps of course.

Help me figure out what I need to get... Looks like other than color and size the biggest decision is split HHKB-style right shift or not. Separate PCB, plate and foam. I may have to get both! :D Other than that, are all the other layout option configurable? i.e. split backspace, split left ISO shif...

I'm using the board on a Linux machine, so nothing to do with sticky keys. I'll check the pcb this weekend. I'll also play around with the pressure. I didn't think it was a membrane or key contact issue since all the keys work by themselves. I was really worried that it might be a controller problem...

Problem with my SSK :(

So, my SSK has developed a problem...I cleaned and bolt modded the board about a year ago. Smooth sailing since then, until now. When I press e, d, or c lowercase all is well. If I use ctrl + c I still get a copy command. But if I use shift + e, d, or c I don't get anything. Actually, it depends on ...

I have tried copper tape and ... it did not work.
I could have sworn hasu used copper tape to mod a Model M membrane...

Could it be that the tape you used did not have conductive adhesive?

His typing technique is typical of anyone conditioned to rubberdomes. To most people that's just how you type. You just pound hard and fast. My keyboard at work has MX blacks with o-rings. If my co-workers type on my keyboard they always try to pound on it first, but the o-rings prevent the hard bot...

How does the sale work? It's just on actual payments made? If I order a bunch now and pay and then the price goes down, will I be able to get a refund? That way I can just go ahead and purchase everything I want right away.

Could we add a cream numnum kit? That way I can get a full purple set, plus the cream alpha and number keys without ending up with 2 sets of the purple numop.

Same thing may go for SPH grey. I'm probably just going to stick with the Round5 grey, but others may want it.

Unicomp's legends seem to be quite a bit thicker. Plus the edges of the characters look like they are almost blocked vs the rounded on the originals. Small differences, but the originals are a little more elegant looking to me.

Unicomp Model M Keycap Colors

I'm not sure if I've posted this in the right place, but I did a search and couldn't find anything on the subject. I'm interested in purchasing some of the custom model m caps from Unicomp. So a few questions: 1. Which colors are the standard model m design? I'm guessing pearl/pebble, but would love...

Got my set and it looks awesome! Only problem is the stabilize stabs for the spacebar won't stay in. If I hit the spacebar on the side the stabs just pop right out which makes the spacebar wobble like mad. Any advice?
