Re: Origin of each country's QWERTY keyboard layout?
I *think* I remember some editor that showed an accent like ` or ' after typing such a dead key, although it moved the cursor afterwards (of course after the next letter typed it would do the right thing). It could have been even Notepad or Wordpad, I rarely use Windows nowadays.

Re: Origin of each country's QWERTY keyboard layout?
Heh, well I rather meant something like this: when you type a dead key, the editor (using low-level keyboard scanning or something similar) shows the accent on current cursor position, maybe flashing it, or in a different color, and then the cursor is kept as is, not moved; so the user can then type...

Re: Origin of each country's QWERTY keyboard layout?
Type writers did have dead keys. In Spanish, for example, the acute accent key was a key that produced the accent but did not move the carriage, then, after it any key typed was let to be printed under the accent. That was a dead key by definition. Heh, editors *could* do that too ... (I mean, it w...

Re: Topre Realforce R2 6-key rollover issue?
@Findecanor, I'm pretty sure when I plug in a keyboard with QMK firmware,it always appears as multiple devices (in Linux, 'dmesg' shows multiple input event sources IIRC), even if I don't enable fancy stuff in QMK; AFAIK, the 6-nkro issue pointed out by @hansichen is still relevant and QMK still use...

A bit funny how the user managed to present the issue by almost making an entire review of the keyboard in the process

But it's true that ortholinear keyboard layout *is* considered more ergonomic than staggered, so it doesn't matter if 99% of computer users don't feel familiar with it, when first put in contact with such a keyboard. Also most kbdfans.cn 60% keyboard PCBs for example are completely programmable and usually improved (*) clones of GH60 AFAIK.
(*) Improved not necessarily as in "better materials" or soldering, but supporting more stuff (RGB lights, or custom layouts)

How are the EC switches from Varmilo? I don't know how these totally went under my radar. (OK, I did a search and found Hasu's post at GH - smooth linears, no domes, potential problems with any future tactile variant)

Thanks for answering, there are some ANSI Bluetooth enabled models for sale on various sites; hopefully sometimes in the future I'll finally have the time to learn KiCAD and design my own PCBs; I have a long queue of projects to make (including a custom PCB for Space Invader switches).

Heh Maybe you could further frankenstein a Topre slider bottom with that MX bottom-cut stem and make something more non-wobbly somehow. But, if it doesn't bother you too much, I guess it's good as is.

They are quite loose and indeed the keycaps look a bit rotated. They are also, probably, the "best" you can get *without* sacrificing a Novatouch keyboard (or a Realforce Topre RGB, except that you can't use the stabilizers for the larger keycaps, since they look different). Also this thread may be ...
