<strike>I got mine from newegg, not sure if they ship to UK.</strike> I take that back, looks like I actually ordered from mwave as they were cheaper at the time. Newegg is cheaper right now, though. If you don't mind other switch and no legends on the keycaps you could go for a G80-3000LPCXY-2 . If...

Firefox also has Ctrl-PgUp, Ctrl-PgDn to cycle tabs (which I tend to use rather than Ctrl-Tab). Interesting. I use Command+[ or ] to go back or forward in history, and Shift+Command+[ ] to go between tabs. Works in every browser. Seems there's a dozen different ways to do it! I forgot about that. I...

Escape seems to be used to clear current selections or return to the 'main' window in certain GUIs. It's a bit inconvenient for use in vim, so usually I use Ctrl-C which has the same binding. As for closing windows/programs, Alt-F4 seems to work accross both Windows and Linux (Mint), but I tend to u...

A truly ridiculous feature of the standard keyboard layout is the horizontal staggering. A remnant of the early mechanical typewriter days and completely superfluous for electronic keyboards. It doesn't bother me for normal typing, but I could never use an imbedded numpad (as in laptop keyboards li...

Ctrl gets used a fair bit, especially when needing to send special signals into a text terminal where normal keypresses would be interpreted as text. Some early keyboards had Ctrl in the place of Caps lock. IBM 5150: http://deskthority.net/wiki/File:83key.jpg Apple II: http://www.digibarn.com/collec...

Two questions: 1) Are there any Keyboards or keycap sets with printed US International layout: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:KB_US-International.svg 2) Filco Minila features a 4th row set 1/4 unit to the left of usual position. Are there any keyboards that feature a numeric row moved to the righ...

HJKL? It's a unix thing; I think it started with vi, the ancestor of the text editor vim. It's pretty popular among devlopers, so lots of times you will find websites have vim navigation bindings (at least J down K up, such as twitter, duckduckgo, facebook). I have yet to see a keyboard with this l...

Yes the blue switches themselves are fine, still getting used to them. I noticed they can be re-actuated without completely releasing the key and having to re-'click'. Looks like a lot of G80s were sacrificed to create that second keyboard :D Now that I've tried both Blue and Red which are close to ...

The keys fit very tightly over the mounts (compared to the CM Storm where the keys easily 'snap on', the keys on the G80 have to be pressed down all the way). To pull the longer keys with leveling mechanism, I was able to use a metal 'puller' I found in a toolset. It does seem like the leveling mech...

2nd mechanical keyboard: Cherry G80-3000SLCEU-2 (MX Blue)
So my first mechanical keyboard I've owned since a couple months ago has been a CM Storm QuickFire XT (MX Red). It's great, compact and sturdy. The only thing I dislike is the font of the printing and the lack of a Menu key. As for the red switches, they are light but smooth and a pleasure to type w...

Judging by the 'smoothing' on my laptop keyboard 'J' and 'N' and Left Ctrl appear to be the most smoothed, followed by F, H, K, L, B, and space bar (under right thumb only). The next most smoothed keys would maybe be E, T, Left Alt, Left Shift, Tab, I, O, R, period, semicolon and enter. I just learn...

I would have to try a few layouts on the bottom right to get a feel for them. Otherwise I wouldn't mind splitting backspace and moving it down (HHKB),...
