Re: Unidentified POS keyboard restoration and retrobrighting
It looks like the PCB with the switches is just passing along the signals to the controller board. The board is 8x16, and I see a total of 24 wires coming from the PCB, in groups of 8, with 16 having diodes nearby. Which suggests that it may be a straightforward matrix. If it's so, you could use one...

It'd have to be a different PCB--there'd have to be overlapping pads in order to support both a centered single key and two 1u keys. Along with the other differences, I just don't think there's that sort of compatibility. There's also a different layout above the numpad, for the right shift area (1u...

I think that is an RT plug. If you look at the documentation for Soarer's adapter , there is a pinout in the hardware section. I've never looked, but I don't know if there are ready-made options for converters. You can, however, make your own Soarer adapter without too much difficulty. You may find ...

Now I'm waiting for my DIN sockets to arrive. The seller said that they are indeed 240 degrees... I hope. Of course the plan B is to cut the cable and connect wires directly to the Arduino. But this would be destructive and I would rather not do that 8-) This big metal IBM plug wouldn't forgive me....

As far as I can see, it does not do that (on the keyboard I'm currently using), and I've never seen any mention of a setting for that, so I would say it's not a possibility. I'm just curious: is there a reason for wanting that? I can sort of abstractly see that as possibly useful, but I don't know a...

I think the onbreak command may be causing trouble. Otherwise, it may be a little strange to break control before breaking P. I think what may be happening, is that it's pushing down control and P, and then the onbreak is either failing to trigger or the ordering of the commands is preventing them f...

Here's my F122 config. It's not commented, and has a fair number of keys that aren't remapped to anything useful. (If anyone has an example where they've found uses for all the keys on an F122, do share.) It includes a function layer activated by hitting the key to the right of left shift, and the l...

I feel less bad about my ignorance after looking at Wikipedia's table; XT models are not especially common. If your wiring's good, and you didn't flip the pinouts, then my next thought is, did you connect the reset pin? I'm not sure how a problem with the reset pin would manifest itself, and I don't...

Perhaps this is an appropriate time to ask a question I've had for a long while. For the most common 40% layout, how does it make sense that you would maximize the number of keys on the top row as opposed to the second row, where one's hands rest? The “most common 40% layout” was made by one dude, ...

Are you sure it's an XT Model M? I thought that Model M's were all either AT (or PS/2) or terminal. The plug for AT looks the same as that for XT, so maybe you wired it up for the wrong plug? That or the adapter's confused as to what protocol to use. Edit: The wiki says that there were Model Ms that...

Are you referring to the date on the back label? Because your spreadsheet does contain some examples with a date that was a Sunday; I analyzed this at one point.clickykeyboards wrote: ↑Model M keyboards seemed to never have been made on Sundays or on US holidays, rarely on Saturdays.

Hasu made a PCB that supports that layout. I don't think there are any current group buys at the moment, but it looks like it supports what you want. Have a look: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=69740.0

For keys that are 1.5u or less, the stem is centered. For 1.75u, it's centered on the left 1.5u part, with the extra step to the right (i.e., it is like a 1.5u key, and then an extra space of 0.25u). Any 2u has stems as though it were two separate 1u keys. The 2.25u left shift has stems as though it...
