Well, I also use this trick for removing the cherry label under the keyboard when I spray painting the case.

Some people actually did try to mod Cherry original Stabilizers when they did build their DK Saver.

It was mainly due to reduce the noise but some people said it changes the touch much better.
I am not sure whether this mod would help you or not.

I was into moding EU cherries to US version and left with bunch of short left-shift. Surely you've got spare Esc keycaps, right?
