Do mechanical typewriters count? My father's mechanical travel typewriter was definitely the first keyboard I used. And I mean mechanical, no power cord needed. You had to dive deep on these with your fingers... For computers, like Seebart, the first one I used was the Commodore 64, when I was maybe...

Can a forum troll be fed any more wholesomely than by giving him a Ping award? Personally, I don't think that's a good way to deal with him.

It would be sad if Sneaky Potato didn't make it because of a split vote!

Can we all just secretly agree to vote for the first option of the two, for the artist, instead of "The Orochi by Keyforge"?

Yes, the Chromecast integration is pretty good (I have Firesticks instead, so thats another one of the reasons I'm using Echos). And the Wemo switches should be no problem. Have fun!

I don't like the Google Home's German voice at all, and asking knowledge questions is something I very hardly do. The spoken answers are too short to be useful anyway. I prefer to google those in writing.

3 ... 2 ... 1 FIGHT! :D

I have an Echo or two. My tips: Have a look at the new IKEA Tradfri before you buy any expensive Philips Hue stuff like I did. (I'm not sure if Google supports it yet though, but I know Alexa does). And the Logitech Hub is a great device if you have devices with IR remotes.

And the holes are circular. The cylinder of the barrel goes through the keyboard case, then the switch cover goes on, and then a locking nut holds everything in place. The switch body is the inside of the case. And I used a Dremel to drill and widen the 15/32" -ish holes. Ah, now I see it, thanks! ...

I especially like the illumination. How does the XT layout work out for you? And can I ask how you get clean rounded-rectangular holes like that in a plastic case? I'd really like to be able to make holes in plastic that don't look like they were carved by a caveman, but with my Dremel, they always ...

I would have loved to attend, too. Last year I was on a holiday trip, this year it won't work out because I'm on a conference in Leipzig that weekend.

Please please "save the date" early next time so I can keep it free. Given my sparse schedule, this was really bad luck.

Granite is the color, Bigfoot is the model, Alps is the switch manufacturer. There is no way to make naming easy and correct at the same time in the case of SG keyboards. There are SG Granite boards with a different case (and rubberdome switches), there are SG Bigfoots in beige with Alps switches, t...

To invent a switch and then give them the patent and sign their shit fine print contract, is signing up to be shot in the foot. I'm not sure I feel pity for such idiocy. A used T430 or T430s in good shape is a good deal for sure. I'm still using my T420 (right now with a docking station and 2 monitors) and I really like it. I have to say that six options were too few for me though, I would have needed 8-10. Things like introductory pages are read once per person, while people come back often for keybo...
