Do mechanical typewriters count? My father's mechanical travel typewriter was definitely the first keyboard I used. And I mean mechanical, no power cord needed. You had to dive deep on these with your fingers... For computers, like Seebart, the first one I used was the Commodore 64, when I was maybe...

Ja, das finde ich auch. auch die Geschichte der Informatik ist super abgedeckt. Deutsches Museum is amazing, I got to go there on my way through Europe. Attached my photo of the apple 1 sorry, i dont speak german :? I agree, it's amazing. It seems like they already had a replica in the exhibition wh...

And the holes are circular. The cylinder of the barrel goes through the keyboard case, then the switch cover goes on, and then a locking nut holds everything in place. The switch body is the inside of the case. And I used a Dremel to drill and widen the 15/32" -ish holes. Ah, now I see it, thanks! ...

I especially like the illumination. How does the XT layout work out for you? And can I ask how you get clean rounded-rectangular holes like that in a plastic case? I'd really like to be able to make holes in plastic that don't look like they were carved by a caveman, but with my Dremel, they always ...

Granite is the color, Bigfoot is the model, Alps is the switch manufacturer. There is no way to make naming easy and correct at the same time in the case of SG keyboards. There are SG Granite boards with a different case (and rubberdome switches), there are SG Bigfoots in beige with Alps switches, t...

To invent a switch and then give them the patent and sign their shit fine print contract, is signing up to be shot in the foot. I'm not sure I feel pity for such idiocy. Well maybe a little. ^^ This is what I thought, too. The licence in the contract seems to allow what IC is trying to do, but that...

A used T430 or T430s in good shape is a good deal for sure. I'm still using my T420 (right now with a docking station and 2 monitors) and I really like it. When I'm neither at home nor at work, I can hardly imagine any situation on a trip that can't be handled by 3x USB, HDMI (or DisplayPort), VGA, ...

The use case would be to hook it up much like a desktop machine, without requiring any dongles or docking station. I would not want to carry the docking station with me in addition to the laptop. That is not at all how a docking station is used... :D From what I understand, what you need is not a l...

I have to say that six options were too few for me though, I would have needed 8-10. Low numbers don't automatically mean that very few people care, it just means that people care about other things more. Things like introductory pages are read once per person, while people come back often for keybo...

Why are Nixies still a $250 thing anyway? I understood it as long as they were the smoothest Cherry MX switches you could find, but nowadays, with Zealios and other great new MX clones around, I don't really think they still are, and I don't understand these prices. Or am I wrong and today's buyers ...
