Re: Objective reasons for using a mechanical keyboard
The objective reason behind my switch to mechanicals was durability/reliability (over cheap membrane keyboards). I mean, that's what led me to look at mechanical keyboards in the first place. But then I discovered the custom keycap options and my whole set of priorities changed. For me, a keyboard i...

Re: Two-tone design (grey/white)
Uni-color schemes can be elegant if some design thought it put behind it (e.g., Apple's Snow White design scheme). But then NeXT gave the world all-black machines, including the keyboard, and the rest of the world saw it and decided it was so kewl that it had to become the next, monotonous de facto ...

Re: Post your keyboard/keycaps!
I believe the keycap assignments correspond to one of the Sindarin fonts out there.

Re: Post your keyboard/keycaps!
The heavy DOF makes it real hard to see and appreciate those Sindarin keycaps.

Re: Switches with quiet upstroke ?
The only downside to Cherry Silent Reds, as I've discovered on a number of boards I have with them, is that by eliminating nearly all the bottom-out and upstroke noise, the shuff-shuff-shuff sound of slider friction suddenly becomes very apparent. I'm sure a lot of folks don't mind that sound, but i...

Very cool. As usual, the lovely sound of the main keys is offset by the ugly sound of the spacebar, which sounds like a stapler in action every time it is hit. Seems to be a common issue with vintage keyboards of that era. BTW, the "weird sub-legends" on the alphas are the ASCII control code symbols...

I just love the deep (bottom out) sound you get from keyboards like that. That sound was what I was hoping to achieve when I first ventured into mech keyboards three years ago and began the quest to put together a modern linear mech board for myself. Little did I realize at the time that sound like ...

What the shipping times for the violettcream? Impossible to determine. They have to be manufactured first. SP removed SA production estimates from their site, but it should be around 9ish months. Excludes shipping and sorting by 7bit. Sure, but a Round 7 production slot will slip with every week/mo...

Yeah, I worked with Charles Anthony (and the rest of the dps8 emulation crew) to get the Multics emulator working, though my contributions were pretty minimal and consisted mostly of testing the software. I have an emulated Multics up and running on a Linux VM running under Hyper-V on my Win10 machi...

Hey matt3o! since the original inspiration for the set was the beamspring profile, why not using the chance of double shot to replicate the classic two tone dark grey with white legends? Everyone who missed out on 7bit's HONEY and HONEYB keycap sets would surely appreciate getting another crack at ...
