I'm going to move this out of the other thread as it probably deserves a new thread.
Anyways, I saw a video of someone with an SSK that has a solenoid. According to the description, they are using an xWhatsit Model F controller (not sure if they meant the solenoid driver).
First of all, would it be possible to use xWhatsit's solenoid driver on a Model M, as the solenoid I have can run at 9v.
If this is not possible, I'll think of some other way.

You can wire up a matrix to an xWhatsit and then the solenoid driver has a voltage reg for the 9v

Yep, that someone is me that did that. Has a Model F xWhatsit controller and a solenoid driver. Solenoid is from an IBM 3178. The tilted controller was actually required to get everything to fit inside the SSK case without modifying it. You can see the insides here: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=69 ... msg1727558
I actually ended up putting a solenoid in the M0110 keyboard at the top of that post too. Kind of weird having a linear board make clicks, but have zero tactility since the click is coming from elsewhere, but there's no guessing whether the key has actuated which is kind of cool.
