Please don't make sockpuppet accounts when GH returns.

Why?

DebtFreeLannister was a jolly fellow.

SongOfRipster was a big blabbermouth though.

No really. A LOT of stuff works better.

Like time stamps being adjusted to West Coast Time.

Still cracks me up the two noobs banned for posting in the Lego thread that were NOT me.

Anyway the APPROPRIATE thread is this one:
http://deskthority.net/geekhacker-refug ... 6-810.html

Please stop trolling me TF.

What a troll. It sure was a clever troll. Please stop trolling him. You guys keep trolling him with everything you say; it's as if he has no fucking idea what it actually means but saw someone use it once and thought it must be applicable to anyone who doesn't like him. That just so happens to be nigh everyone who's ever had any contact with him. You guys better stop making him call you a troll and post links and REALLY show you guys.

It was a joke, humor. Lighten up...

Admit it TF. And take this shit to a different thread.

I'll admit it was off topic so I'll let it go with apologies...

Illalwaysactyoung is more mature than his posts indicate.

Apology accepted.

I just got home after being out of town for 2 days working. I actually think I LOST money...how does that happen?

Out of curiosity I checked the new and improved GH...and found the same old and unimproved splash page. Yawn. Momentum is almost going backwards at this point. Even a thread about GH updates is derailed.

I stand by my previous statements of a wiki site with all the valuable info so many people need. Or....get it on Deskthoritys wiki.

Oh. After seeing the shizz on the 4th page I didn't have the stomach to read the previous pages (too much shizz to go through)....but a quick scan due to your eloquent post reveals possible alternate dates...but I don't think anyone is holding their breath, the info is very indefinite and sketchy, for obvious reasons.

It doesn't really affect me, I'm just noting it. I was gonna copy some info from my Kinesis wiki, but that will have to wait, or be lost and replicated depending on whatever happens with GH, if anything happens.

I have a very simple question.
Why is it taking so long to get the site back online?
Not even Y2K caused a delay like this.
How about a reasonable explanation to those who have supported the site for years?

Because they need to start everything from scratch again, want to do something nicely done, and are a small team with everybody having a job.

Stay calm, delay is understandable considering the task they're doing.

it can be had if you read this thread and remember that the people working on this are doing so entirely in their spare time for free.

Nope. Sorry but there is not an explanation as to why it is taking so very long. If I missed it then please link me to that one.

Bud I am calm. If I wasnt I would have asked days ago. I am just curious as it has been longer than is reasonable to get a site back up.

what is a reasonable amount of time for a site to be restored?

from people that have day jobs and that you have no idea what their schedules are

ripster

10 Jul 2012, 01:46

I dunno. Took me 5 minutes to set up 3 subreddits.

Just think what I could do with HTML skillz. I may have to Unfriend iMav on FB for the lack of communication.

3 days is a reasonable amount of time.
Now I was just asking. So why all the defensiveness?

Now that is 2 things we agree on.
1. Politics
2. the time the site has been down

ripster

10 Jul 2012, 03:45

I hate forum politics. I seem to always get caught in the middle of inter forum spats.

At least Reddit likes me.

Are you contributing anything to help it go back up faster? If not, I really don't see how you can complain about it.

Interesting. At first I wasn't going to click on that but, like, it's a text file.
They seem to be known for broadcasting their results so only surprising that it took so long.
