Re: BKE Redux Light domes (in a silenced Novatouch)
OK, so I can answer my own question I guess. The V2 domes are compatible with the Realforce RGB it seems (whatever that means?), and are attached in rows (huge plus in my opinion). More info: https://www.keyclack.com/products/bke-topre-dome-replacements-v2 The domes look very different (i.e., there ...

Are the V2 domes different, and if so, how?

Re: New HHKB Pro Hybrid Type-S -- Very Brief Impressions
I agree with most of what you said. In my opinion the Bluetooth implementation makes it really convenient to use the keyboards with multiple devices. Device switching happens really quickly. I also think that the ability to use the keyboard both with a USB cable and via Bluetooth is a big plus. I'm ...

As I wrote earlier on, the HYBRID Type-S that I got came with a PBT spacebar.

Re: HHKB refresh in 2019?
The battery compartment can be removed as far as I can see. But yeah, I think a Classic Type-S would have been a nice choice.
However, Bluetooth is really convenient, and the HYBRID is (in my opinion) a pretty big improvement over the Bluetooth version.

BKE Redux Light domes (in a silenced Novatouch)
I decided to bring out my Novatouch after having kept it in a box for quite some time. I thought it would be interesting to install the BKE Redux Light domes that I initially bought for my HHKB Pro 2. I got a small bag of Ultra Light domes which I installed in the HHKB and moved the Lights to the No...

Re: HHKB refresh in 2019?
Maybe it's just be being overly optimistic, or imaginative, or something else. However, I'm almost positive that one could remove the battery compartment, replace it with a new cover, and possibly even place a small (too small?) battery inside. The battery compartment of the Bluetooth model could be...

Re: HHKB refresh in 2019?
I don’t know. Isn’t it mainly the battery compartment that’s bothering people?
It seems more robustly built (and sounds like it too), and with added convenience.
At least I like it so far.

Re: HHKB refresh in 2019?
The old style bag is so good. I use it when I travel. Luckily I have two.
And I agree on the overbranding, but those items are only for the US market, right? The case is even US made according to the description.

I assume you’ve already seen that the new models are available in the US, right? Discounted, and with some new accessories available as well.

To me that sounds like a good excuse to buy some equipment... Desoldering wick and a solder suction device.

Re: HHKB refresh in 2019?
The spacebar from the HYBRID sank, while the ABS ones I had didn’t. So I guess it’s PBT. Not bad.

Re: HHKB refresh in 2019?
OK, so I just received my HYBRID Type-S. A few initial observations: 1) No more creaking. This case is solid compared to the Pro 2! 2) The spacebar is MUCH quieter than on a previous-gen Type-S. Seriously, this makes a huge difference. 3) Also, I'm not sure if the spacebar is still ABS. It's certain...

Re: HHKB refresh in 2019?
I haven’t noticed such behavior, and to be honest I still don’t quite understand. Whistling is not low-pitched in my book... Also, I would be surprised about any high-pitched sounds, because normally I’m the type of person that complain about coil whine from power a power supply. Do you have a recor...

Re: HHKB refresh in 2019?
How are you dealing with the battery pack tumor growth? Have you told yourself it’s not THAT ugly enough times? 1) It’s smaller than on the BT. 2) I’m willing to accept it because of the wireless convenience. 3) As far as I know it can be removed, so in principle one could use it without the batter...

Re: HHKB refresh in 2019?
Did anyone ever try to put the innards of a BT model into a Pro 2 chassis? It would be obvious to me to try that out. I realize some modifications would be necessary, but there's space inside a Pro 2... Yup: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=81269.msg2161832#msg2161832 I see I replied in that th...

Re: HHKB refresh in 2019?
Honestly, I'd like a black HYBRID Type-S. I'd have preferred a rechargeable battery, but otherwise I think it looks cool. And a black Type-S, who didn't want that :) ? I don't like the text at the top right. I preferred the old logo placement. I.e., another reason to go black now. Also interesting t...

Re: HHKB refresh in 2019?
According to posts on reddit and geekhack, some people claim that a representative has said (at NorCal meetup) "Q1 2020". Whatever that means; more information at that point, or a product release. Let's see.

Re: HHKB refresh in 2019?
I just bought a Pro 2 Type S, I'm not one to worry about it if a new one comes out right after I take delivery. Even if the new one is better in some way, the current model is still excellent. Good choice. I agree. I’d just like to see an updated HHKB BT, I’ll still be keeping my Type-S and Pro 2.
