Re: //gainsborough's sale thread

Haha! Yeah I still need to figure out the best way to ship that thing. Stay tuned! I will try to make finding it/packaging it as much a priority as I can next week!

Re: Alps Appreciation

Interesting, what is the spacebar from? Ahh yeah, that one, like caps lock, is part of the original cap set. Omnikeys use the double plunger stab as opposed to other vintage boards that just have one. Also, as a side note, I had to cut the logo so that it would fit on the trap door of the 101. I wa...

Re: Alps Appreciation

Nice job Gains! My own Omnikey project has been put to the side until I can figure out what's wrong with it, firmware wise. Considering wiring the matrix to a teensy, actually. Thanks, Zed! This particular project was on the sidelines for a bit as well, so I definitely can relate. It'll come togeth...

Have to agree with Zed. Also, that last pic is pure gold. Pun intended.

Re: //gainsborough's sale thread

That 5140 seems like a neat little Alps board, and in great condition as well. It would be awesome to be able to make a converter as well as perhaps a case for it so that it could be put to use :) Copter actually did that! He posted about it here: https://deskthority.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=9666&st...

Re: //gainsborough's sale thread

That F122 is such a beauty  A lot of work has probably gone into that board :) I wish I had the some extra funds atm  Also shipping that thing to the EU would certainly not be cheap either ;) Anyway, GLWS :D Edit: I also wish I had a bigger desk to fit that huge board  Hahaha - it ...

Yeah you'll have to make one. I actually have a gold badge for mine already =P I'd be interested in what you create, though!! I tried tracing one in adobe illustrator, but couldn't get a good pic of a badge on the internet. I'll take a close-up for you so you have a better start. BTW I just realized...

Re: Alps Appreciation

Huh... it's like we have the same idea for our omnikey builds, hahaha. Though, mine will be an omnikey "102" hahaha. As far as acquiring a badge, I don't know of any repro. badges that exist. You could always custom make one and have it printed off - I know there are name-tag services that would be ...

Good stuff! Blue alps certainly sound very nice in this chassis - or any northgate chassis! Highly recommend if that's what you are considering! I'm about to do something similar with a 101!

Got an Omnikey 102 at last! I've got an OEMMAX Mac-105 with great condition Blue Alps that are just begging to be swapped into this thing. It's for new orders, I'll invoice you for 200 at half price. I assume this is for ZedThe Man since I've already paid. Is this how group buys always work - don't pay at first and get stuff later on for half price? I've never participated in one before...and probably won't again. It is not how GBs us...

Re: I almost got a Northgate Omnikey Ultra

It’s not too weird TBH - if someone offers $100 they will probably bid up to $100 too. It’s usually in the sellers best interest to let things go to auction. Though, now that I think more about it, maybe I confused the BIN option together with an auction where the BIN option goes away.... we need to...

pro tip: if you put a bid in on an item that also has a "best offer" option, it removes the "best offer" option.

I'm going to Japan In May! I don't really know the good place in Japan to find Vintage Alps Keyboard.
Akihabara is probably your best bet - when I went I wasn't in the keyboard game yet, but I vaguely remember some old electronics shops in the area.

Chyrosran22 live in the best city for a Vintage Keyboard though. I understand that because he lived in Netherlands. while in the US, it's so difficult to find a Vintage Keyboard like Northgate Omnikey. Go to eBay and search "northgate" - there are usually a bunch on there. I've scored a few deals o...

Looks great! Thicker doubleshots are the way to go for blue alps - at least, in my opinion =)

The spacebar stab. wire sticking out like that looks kinda funny - like it has little feet, hahaha.
