Re: Dick Harris question/answer thread
I'm late in finding this very fascinating and informative discussion, but I'm wondering if Mr. Harris has any knowledge of the Model M keyboards with blue Alps SKCM switches that pop up now and then? As far as I know it has never been confirmed whether these were a genuine IBM product, or an unauth...

Finally got my hands around a big Wang!
Terrific condition.
I'm gonna do some hi res scans of the Word Perfect shortcut strips which I removed for aesthetic reasons.

I am also on the trail of these mysterious SMK boards with various manufacturer rebrands.
Please let me know if you come across any with transparent caps.

Re: Alps Appreciation
Not at the moment, plus I'm in Aus so the shipping would likely be pretty bad, but give me a message as I do need to clear out/sell some stuff soon. I did try making them ANSI with a couple of SGI dyesubs, but unfortunately the different fonts, colours and keycap shapes didn't really work that well...

Grabbed a Zenith for cheap because I love laptops with mechanicals. Turns out to to have Alps integrated Domes, beautiful double shots though. zenith1.jpg zenith2.jpg Nice keycaps... Re: Alps Appreciation
Been coveting this for my transparent Alps collection for a long time, finally got one for a sensible price. It's the Macway version of the Filco Skeleton, and others, from the Strongman series. Would prefer a PC version but just happy to have one at all. Were the Filco/Macway transparent keyboards...

I don't think Pulp Fiction is a good movie.
The Bruce Willis revenge part is okay, but the rest is just scummy drug dealers shooting each other, why should I give a shit?
Because I don't, I don't give a shit.

Re: Why are alps keyboards not as popular?
The short answer, which is quite long, is because Alps is a massive Japanese conglomerate, that makes all kinds of buttons, switches, dials and input devices/electronics, and at some point in the 90's a businessman saw on a balance sheet that everyone was going rubber dome and there was no point pro...

Ok, so I got my Atessa finally from Yahoo Auctions, I was poor at the time so I had to choose Seamail, and it's taken months. Another transparent Alps board for the collection, but there is some weirdness here. I have no experience with black Alps, my At-101 had white, but these feel wrong for what ...

That is awesome! Thanks andrewjoy, i'd like to something a bit more elaborate for the next one, but I'm not sure what yet. I was thinking of getting a wooden case made for standard filco etc TKLs but do it as lots of layers of wood ( a bit like the acrylic cases.) End grain plywood can look quite g...

Yeah I love this: the case, the caps, the leds, the labels, all look great. Although, the little bit of overhang on the flat plane label makes me fidgety. ;) When I see this kind of thing I'm reminded how much I'd like to get a custom dye sub setup like https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/...

Re: flowerlandfilms ELH-38 (Yellow Alps)
And with that I think this build is finished! I still need to drill a whole in back for the cable, and add some rubber feet maybe. I might make a second one for the right side, and hopefully I can fix some of my errors on that one. But it works great, it's so satisfying pushing a cube and generating...
