And here's a pic of the PCB along with another I recently desoldered. The top pcb with the spacebar stabs still attached is the one the switches came from.

The Wyse WY-50 was released in October 1983. The boards are identical to the ASCII other than all the modifier keys being stepped. The ASCII was produced in the 90s. So I'd say it's safe to assume that all the wy-50 boards were produced between 1983 and the ASCII beginning production.

As far as I can tell, there is no way to derive the age of the boards from the PCBs or cases. All versions of the pcb just have the copyright date of 1983. The particular board these came from says 980013-01 REV J on it. I've got a ton of different revs on the pcbs of my boards, and I assume that ...

I believe that I may have found something interesting while harvesting some old Wyse boards. I bought a lot of Wyse WY-50 boards to harvest switches from, and one of the boards in the lot had several switches in it that I've never seen before. They are functionally the same as other vintage blacks ...

It's the Mech27. It's only the top half atm as I'm still soldering the switches and diodes. I'll have some pictures of the finished product sometime over the weekend most likely.

Finally putting together an alps project I've been planning for the last 6 months or so. I decided to have the plate cut out of 1.5mm copper alloy 110. I know 1.2mm is ideal for alps, but they didn't have copper sheets in that thickness, and alps still work in 1.5mm ...

It is indeed a plastic back. I've not had any other omnikeys so I didn't know that the back might be different haha. I quickly took a few more pictures highlighting the differences I've noticed from other pictures.

I just finished installing BKE-2010 domes on this board and have updated the OP. I'm not sure if anyone here has any experience with BKE domes, but I'd love to hear from others as my domes appear to be different than other BKE-2010 boards.

That looks great! I just put a set of Matias quiet linears on with some spherical typewriter caps and a fauxhammer case. It's good but I really wanted to put on some orange alps until I opened them up and saw that they were filthy.... :cry:

And I found a BKE-2010 for domes, they should be arriving in the next few weeks, so this board will be all apart again soon. That should be the last mod going into the board though as I can't think of anything else I'd want to do to it.

And alh84001 the reason I didn't use the domes/springs from the 86uw is that it was variable weight. I've got a thing for 45g uniform topre. My first keyboard was a 55g realforce, and a few months later I got a 45g EK realforce, and the ...

At some point I have various weight alps springs from sprit coming in. The browns are a little too heavy for my taste, so I'm homing that I'll be able to make them lighter while maintaining their characteristics.
