Re: Stuff you just bought

Any tips on repairing/disassembly/assembly/cleaning and re-lubing the insides? Afaik, the XYD is how IBM branded their late Selectric II models for the german market. I recommend watching Phoenix Typewriter's video about the selectrics. You can find him on YouTube. Those are a nightmare to maintain...

I this M0118 with Alps SKCM Orange switches in decent condition. I got it as part of a great deal together with the mouse, two poor-condition AEKII boards and a beautiful Macintosh Classic II:
That's an awesome find!

Re: Stuff you just bought

It came about an hour ago: https://i.imgur.com/GoB8WWU.jpg I found it a couple of months ago on Bulgaria's version of Craigslist and I just had to have it, so I asked the seller to save it for me. It was selling for 100BGN, which converted to USD, today is about $62. It is hella dirty but supposed t...

I think tray mounting accomplishes this
Acomplishes what? Sorry, my question is whether the mounting of the PCB to the case provides any noticavle difference in the feel when you have a plate and what's the difference in feel between the different ways to mount the PCB.

Re: [Find & Restoration] IBM 5281 Beamspring loot

Might be a bit of a weird request, but can you please take and post a picture of the keycaps dead on from the top, like a straight up 90 degrees angle between the camera and the keycaps?

How do different PCB mount types affect the feel in a plate based keyboard?

I have recently been thinking about ways to design and mount a PCB so it can provide even stiffness throughout. Whether spring like tabs are possible to be cut in FR4, but then I realized I am thinking about a design that will use a plate. So, this sparked the following question: If you design a boa...

Arduino + switches and or analog joysticks of your choice and you may tinker some stuff yourself.
That's definitely the plan!

[WTB] [EU/BG] Cooler Master MasterKeys Pro S RGB

I still have all my keyboards but some died, so I am looking to replace them out of nostalgia and to keep a collection.

P.S. Just the PCB is also fine.

That's awesome! Thanks for sharing this! By the way, is there a way to configure Deskthority to show me a notification when I open it, if someone has commented on a post I did or I have started? I thought I've set it up but it didn't notify me about your comment Click the little wrench icon -> subs...

[WTB] [EU/BG] A couple of Holy Pandas

Hi everyone! I am looking to buy a couple (at least 5) Holy Panda switches to fill the rest of my Idobo (ID75) as I only have 70. Ideally, I'd like to buy some more (maybe 20-50) so I can have enough, if I decide to put them on a bigger board. As the ones I currently have, came factory lubed from Dr...

Re: Any Open Source Controllers out there?

Thanks a lot for the insight!

I love the idea of setting/getting the direction by making the stick shaft be conductive or having a touch sensitive ring around it.

Re: Any Open Source Controllers out there?

I would like to eventually make myself one for use with a PC. I've always had it in the back of my head that I'll just use some sort of mechanical switches (maybe mouse switches?) if I make myself one as I am not limited by what the manufacturer chose, but I can see why people might decide to use th...

Any Open Source Controllers out there?

I have seen open source/custom builds of pretty much any common input device (keyboards (obviously), mice, trackballs, fight sticks, even whole arcade cabinets, flight simmulation joysticks) but I can't seem to find a single project for controllers (I mean controllers in the sense of game controller...

Re: GameBall allegedly finishes its gaming trackball for launch in Q1 2020

To be honest, I can't take them seriously and it's not even for the fact that they always push the release date further into the future. They claim they are making a gaming trackball, like that's the main use for their trackball and then they go and release it with a scroll like this. The scroll isn...

I am very interested in a TKL version. Any recent info on what is going on with the cases, @matt3o? 2020 Edit: I have since moved to 60% and hopefully soon to an ErgoDox. (Not that I don't still own a couple of TKLs). If the cases end up happening count me in (ideally) for an ErgoDox one or at least...
