Re: IBM Model F AT Winkey + Split Spacebar Drop-in Replacement PCB
The IBM controller is hooked to its circuit board with solid core wire. Do I need anything specific to wire the swifttttttt board to the xwhatsit, or will ordinary "hook-up wire" from eBay work? There's no one correct solution. Last time I soldered an xwhatsit, I took a single strand of a 40 pin ID...

MF50 - Open-Source Drop-in IBM M50 Capacitive Replacement PCB
In these pictures, the silkscreen around the pin header is wrong (too many GNDs). I have corrected this. https://i.imgur.com/ctZsgqZ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/nGTo5C9.jpg Source: https://github.com/taylorswift22/MF50/ QMK Firmware: http://35.164.28.200:5000/#/xwhatsit/ibm/f50/universal/LAYOUT Gerbers:...

Re: IBM Model F AT Winkey + Split Spacebar Drop-in Replacement PCB
So, I uploaded the gerber file to JLPCB and it looks like: $4.00 "engineering fee" $20.40 for quantity 5 boards ($4.10 each seems incredibly cheap) $31.80 shipping (DHL air from Guangdong, China) --------- $56.20 That's their default "FR-4" material and two-layer board. That's all I have to do? It ...

Re: IBM Model F AT Winkey + Split Spacebar Drop-in Replacement PCB
This PCB is for the Model F AT. It has no relation to the Model F XT. One question ... how long it took you to generate the gerber files ? Which software have you used ? Have you used in any manner the ones which I generated for the FSSK ? I used KiCad to make the PCB. I'm not sure how long it took,...

Re: [IC] FSSK Metal Plate | Manufacturing Complete
I built the correct QMK-xwhatsit firmware for this PCB (FSSK v1.00b) and thanks to pandrew, it is now available on QMK configurator: http://35.164.28.200:5000/#/xwhatsit/ibm/fssk_v1_0b/universal/LAYOUT_all I originally linked the wrong firmware because I stupidly assumed the FEXT firmware would work...

Re: [IC] FSSK Metal Plate | Manufacturing Complete
Aand it's done! I'm glad it came together. Do you mind if I use some of these pictures in my Instructions post? Upd: taylorswift, what's the PCB thickness? I noticed it's pretty thin - thinner than XTant - but forgot to measure and now I can't get to it with calipers! Also thanks for using stainles...

Re: [IC] FSSK Metal Plate | Manufacturing Complete
I am about halfway through invoicing and shipping. Re: [IC] FSSK Metal Plate | Plates & Foam Ordered
Plate manufacturing completed. https://i.imgur.com/5Vhsort.jpg The time per plate ended up being more than triple my expectations, and I do not have the time or energy to improve the smoothness of the cuts on the top and bottom edges. I went over each one with a file to remove the worst of the jagge...

Re: [IC] FSSK Metal Plate | Plates & Foam Ordered
Two items of bad news: 1. Ponoko hasn't even shipped it yet. I guess they're busy over the holidays... all my previous orders were made in exactly the estimated time 2. I ordered 10 PCBs from JLCPCB when I need about 13. I ordered 5 more. Although they cost more each I will match the price of the fi...

Re: [IC] FSSK Metal Plate | AT Barrel Support Added, PCBs & Controllers Ordered
Plates and foam ordered. https://i.imgur.com/ylzjbsv.png Here is the final plate design. Re: [IC] FSSK Metal Plate (AT barrel support added)
I have ordered 10 PCBs and 10 SMD Model F Controllers. The final cost of each PCB is $6.63 and the final cost of each controller is $6.63 plus $5.01 for a USB-C Pro Micro clone. My current thinking is that the controller and pro micro will each be optional. I cleaned up the PCB slightly before order...

Re: [IC] FSSK Metal Plate (MF Revisited?)
I will be ordering 10 SMD Model F Controllers. Those who want them will have them included with their kit, and those who want to use alternative controllers will not. I can find homes for the extras. Unfortunately the 74AHC595D,118 shift register used in the SMD Model F Controller is out of stock on...

Re: [IC] FSSK Metal Plate (MF Revisited?)
Just finished updating the plate. AT support is added, switched some rectangles for slots, and the plate has a smaller footprint on the top and sides. The smaller footprint should help with Mini M support, but that is still unconfirmed. https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/659135038990057513/104...

Re: [IC] FSSK Metal Plate (MF Revisited?)
Xwhatsit controllers are supported? Any xwhatsit-based controller running any firmware is supported. The only thing that would make a capacitive PCB support one and not the other is if its designed in a way that requires QMK's per-pad calibration to function. Any idea how to make a bottom plate? I ...
