Re: Recommendation for Mac OS mechanical keyboard
Yeah. I have mostly vintage boards (and a recently finished Keebio Quefrency I built and a few modern mechs) and lots of Macs. Old Macs, new Macs, etc. All the USB ones work well with modern firmwares (QMK/TMK/etc.) and even older USB mechs have zero problems. When possible I map the keys in ...

Re: Connecting a Model M to a Macintosh Computer
Honestly, I have a home-built TMK-based converter (using a Pro Micro) on my Model M and that works on my Macbook and my old eMac, no problems whatsoever. Sometimes cheapy PS2 to USB converters are not 100% right. I have had one with chatter or (since I live in Europe and more than half my collection ...

Re: Quefrency Split Keyboard Build
That's why I put a drop of epoxy/glue where the usb socket meets the pcb, makes it harder to rip it off by accident.
Yeah, did that with one on my recent Quefrency build, actually. Good thing both controllers can control the board, until I find the time to desolder and replace the Pro Micro ...

I think that you may want to try out some switches first, if you aren't sold on one or the other. Your personal feel and office environment requirements are *very* important to picking out what you should get.

I love my rollermouse but I find that I still like to have the option of having a mouse or trackball on the side and moving back and forth depending on what I'm doing

I use the roller bar as a button on both my original and with my rollermouse 2 pro. Part of it is to center the thing based on your hand. I usually have my B key lined up with the scrollwheel, so most full-sized boards will seem off-center. It is down to tuning. I only use the left-click button if I ...

It may be a little tricky re: the key layout, but if you are going custom, using TMK or QMK, you can have an ANSI enter but ISO left shift. Is the short left shift a problem? If so, do a "Focus"-like layout and split the right shift and put it on the outside of the right shift [under the enter]. I ...

The other notable change is that you can change the layout more easily. Depending on your layout [ISO, ANSI, etc.] certain barrels are populated and certain ones are not. The membrane has all the spots regardless, so you can do crazy things like a Focus-like key on the right-shift, or have an ANSI ...

I like it! The effect is very nice. The caps are much too pretty to forgo.
It would be something if you replaced some cheap lasered caps from a Dell AT101, but the SGI ones are super sweet. I agree, the clear caps are cool with the lighting effect, but yeah, I'd repurpose those to a less cool board ...

Beamsprings are definitely cool, but I couldn't imagine typing on that tall of a keyboard all day ;) I personally love buckling springs (and heavier switches), so the new Kishsaver is on the "justify buying this to my wife" list.
