they actually had a lot of trouble making just that word fit, so I'm not sure they could have fitted any more, at least not without shortening it to "ptn !" ;)
Oh wow, where can I get one ?
You would need to go back in time, and come to the Paris Meetup meetup held in late August

Re: Why are alps keyboards not as popular?

to reply to OP, the reason why Alps aren't more popular is because SKCM died in the 90s, and their switches after that were not good, so no one bothered to use them. and clones are bad, as long as they will be simplified, no one (read as : a significant mass of people) will be interested in them "S...

Re: Why are alps keyboards not as popular?

They are not common and are well built. Plus people want the for their vintage Macs as well. AEK are dirt common, what are you on about A good condition/restored AEK can fetch around ~$100 USD plus you never find them at thrift stores. "AEKs are common" is misleading and a myth. you don't find them...

Re: Why are alps keyboards not as popular?

There are quite a few Alps clones still in production (Hua-Jie, Tai-Hao, and Matias/Gaote, all have their strengths and weaknesses) There is a lack of keycap sets and chassis/PCBs available. Tai-Hao would likely make any Alps keyset in any color imaginable, but there is a MOQ of 100+ sets which peo...

I'm sure he means MX blues, and not SKCM Blues The OP did say alps. I mean who would not want some cheap blue alps. Better than that blue cherry rubbish. ( lubed vintage blacks are still awesome tho) Unless it's custom, as E3E mentioned, I am sure that it's not going to be Alps, even if it was, the...

Re: help me to get an unknown vintage alps keyboard to work!

The keyboard uses SKCM Ivory switches, SKCM Cream are not dampened. The p/n is oddly similar to the ones present on the SGI Bigfoot series, as seen here : https://deskthority.net/wiki/SGI_Bigfoot_series which is why I'll take a wild guess, and say that it uses the SGI protocol, which is why it doesn...

Re: my CHERRY MY TYPE 2 keyboard

Your board seems to be a very early G81-1000HAE, so much so that it hasn't even got the sticker we all know. Do you happen to have a good picture of the label ?

What should you do with it ? you should find a nice pcb, and swap the MYs, for MX, because god knows MYs are bad.
