Snagged this beauty on eBay just now. It's the keyboard for a Franklin PC-8000 from 1986. Couldn't find any info on it other than a mention on Geekhack from 9 years ago saying it has SKCL greens. I'll post to the wiki once it arrives, but for fun does anyone already have info on this thing? Woah, i...

Wait. Is the enjoypbt set really indistinguishable from these ones? :D

NIB? More like $800, actually. But this price was considering that at most 10 NIB SAV were known in the world; more offer, lower prices. If you add like 80 keyboards/sets to the game, you end up with probably more items than the number of Cherry collectors ready to spend that amount on one of those...

I must be within the approximation error. I use a 5251 as my daily driver, but to be fair I did remove it from its case and fitted an XT case top on it for wrist support and to complete the look. It works great and is not much higher than a Model M. Anything is possible if you like the switches eno...

Repro would be expensive, but just remaking the switch modules and putting them in a redesigned(cheaper) case/plate may actually bring it down to a cost which is much less then what they are selling for today. The switch modules are only 8 parts (spring, leaf 1, leaf 2, rubber O ring, slider, metal...

Insanely expensive, and out of the question for anyone that doesn't manage a quite rich company I'd say.

Make sure that in the Control Panel you have UNset all "quick access" key sequences. Windows is unsufferable otherwise.
Couldn't find this specific setting, it must be hidden somewhere else on my version of Windows. I solved the problem by violently removing the default Italian layout.

I'm continuing to use this: I find a bit hard to adapt to the dead keys, but that's only because I never used them before (and because both my Windows installation keep randomly defaulting back to the standard Italian layout for some weird reasons. Well, it's Windows after all.) A sidenote: it has c...

The exact definition of "mechanical keyboard", as already said in this and other places on the Internet, has some fuzzy edges. For example, I don't agree with the definition "if it has a PCB it's mechanical, otherwise it's not". The membranes are less durable and less resistant to humidity, but if y...

The original Italian layout is... Challenged , in many regards. I'm using this layout proposal. It's a bit early to really give an opinion, but everything is going smoothly for now. Adding diacritics through dedicated "Compose" keys is something I'm really not used to, so I need a little more time; ...

If this is your first mechanical, this is... A very, very good way to start. CHECK FOR CORROSION. When you pull the caps for cleaning you'll see the barrel plate: look at how much corrosion it has. If it's a lot, it could need work. Ah, pulling the keys longer than 1u (but not the spacebar) is perfe...

So how many of you would judge me if I floated my NIB F AT up on eBay for $1500 to test the market hype? Nothing bad in testing the hype, but I fear that such a test could drive the prices up even more. It's probably part of the cause of high prices for "mainstream rare" boards (e.g. Model Fs and b...
